A demand for division of focal plane (DoFP) polarization image sensors grows rapidly as nanofabrication technologies become mature. The DoFP sensor can output real time data of polarization information. In this paper, a novel visualization method for angle of polarization (AoP) is proposed for DoFP polarization image sensors. The data characteristics of AoP are analyzed, and strategies for a visualization method are proposed which conforms to the characteristics of AoP data. According to these strategies, we propose a visualization method for AoP data based on three dimensional HSI color space. This method uses intensity and saturation to characterize the magnitude of the angle between the polarization direction and the horizontal direction wherein the hue indicates the deflection direction. It is shown by the numerical simulation that the noise in the AoP image can be suppressed by our visualization method. In addition, the real-world experiment results are consistent with the numerical simulation and verify that the AoP image obtained by our method can suppress the influence of characterization noise, and the image is simple and intuitive, which is advantageous to human vision. The proposed method can be directly used for the commercialized DoFP polarization image sensor to display real-time AoP data.

AbstractThanks to its three-dimensional integration and the use of amorphous as well as crystalline silicon, the TFA technology is suitable for advanced image sensor applications. This paper describes the fundamentals of the properties: sensitivity, dark current, temporal and fixed-pattern noise of these TFA image sensors. It compares the different sensitivity definitions, especially current sensitivity and the charge conversion factor. Further, the dark current sources are pointed out, and their temperature behavior is described. By noise calculations, different pixel input stages are compared with regard to low light level detection.

Current approaches for opening door usually focus on the recognition of door handle in a fixed position, but in the process of door opening, a manipulator with a mobile platform is very important under real-world scenarios, which brings significance to the location and distance measurement of a door handle when the mobile platform is moving. In this paper, a method for location of a door handle in HSI color space is presented. The image of the door handle is captured by the kinect for Xbox360, and is processed in HSI color space, resulting in a rectangle frame fitted to the door handle to be displayed in real time. The distance value of the door handle is obtained from the depth image. Experiment results show the efficiency of the proposed method.

This paper presents the effects of offset pixel aperture width on the performance of monochrome (MONO) CMOS image sensors (CISs) for a three-dimensional image sensor. Using a technique to integrate the offset pixel aperture (OPA) inside each pixel, the depth information can be acquired using a disparity from OPA patterns. The OPA is classified into two pattern types: Left-offset pixel aperture (LOPA) and right-offset pixel aperture (ROPA). These OPAs are divided into odd and even rows and integrated in a pixel array. To analyze the correlation between the OPA width and the sensor characteristics, experiments were conducted by configuring the test elements group (TEG) regions. The OPA width of the TEG region for the measurement varied in the range of 0.3–0.5 μm. As the aperture width decreased, the disparity of the image increased, while the sensitivity decreased. It is possible to acquire depth information by the disparity obtained from the proposed MONO CIS using the OPA technique without an external light source. Therefore, the proposed MONO CIS with OPA could easily be applied to miniaturized devices. The proposed MONO CIS was designed and manufactured using the 0.11 μm CIS process.

Jelenleg az echokardiográfia a legszéleskörűbben alkalmazott rutin noninvazív diagnosztikus eljárás, amelynek segítségével a mitralis billentyű morfológiája és funkciója jellemezhető. Ennek az összefoglaló jellegű közleménynek a célja az egyik legújabb echokardiográfiás fejlesztés, a transthoracalis real-time háromdimenziós echokardiográfia szerepének bemutatása a mitralis billentyű vizsgálatában.
