The global trend of the current decade is the «digitalisation of the economy», which means the introduction of digital technologies into economic activity. Digital technologies used in the economy primarily include information and communication (information-computer) technologies, which are used to build information systems at various stages of the product life cycle. Such systems perform the tasks of collecting, transmitting and processing data coming from the production, distribution, exchange and consumption of products. A brief look at digital technologies used in modern industry.

The global trend of digital business transformation forces a new look at many traditional disciplines and methodologies, in particular, the management of the logistics of a digital enterprise at the stages of the cycle of creating products for a given cost and in a given time. In order to achieve the desired competitiveness of production, it is necessary to manage the material and technical support of the digital enterprise at the stages of the cycle of creating products at a given cost and in a given time, in order to constantly find reserves for improvement.

Most of the industrial organizations, including SMEs, need to quickly react and adapt to the changing market conditions imposed by globalization, such as new sustainability directives or new type of customers. The fulfillment of these requirements on time is a must so as to remain competitive in the global markets. Since data management information systems are already present in almost all the corpus of industrial enterprises as custom developments or standard PLM solutions, the natural technical evolution that aims to provide an effective answer to these changing market conditions comprises the shifting from a data management perspective towards a process management view. Hence, the challenge is how to manage business processes that build upon existing information systems so as to encourage business agility, efficiency, and interoperability. The proposed approach roots on the Business Process Management (BPM) discipline and leverages process optimization through the systematic modeling and reengineering of business processes accompanied by supporting interoperable and configurable eco-services, which are conceived as sustainability-aware services designed to optimize some aspects of the product life-cycle through eco-constraints management.

This article aims to develop a model for enterprise decision-making on the disposal of used products, taking into account socio-environmental and economic factors. Methodology/Technique – The article analyzes the impact of digital technologies on the formation of closed supply chains and the development of a circular economy. At the same time, special attention is focused on the model of a closed product life cycle, as a fundamental element in the formation of a circular economy at the micro and nano levels, as well as the importance of using digital technologies at all stages of the product life cycle. Findings –The methods of product management at the end of the life cycle studied in the article have made it possible to form a simulation decision support model regarding the method of product disposal, taking into account environmental and economic feasibility. Novelty – This study identified the main trends in the development of closed supply chains under the influence of digital technologies in the context of a circular economy.
