Induction motor usage is increasing drastically due to new entrant of electric vehicle, traction and propulsion systems at present. Temperature of electric motors are significantly affect its parameters. Since, resistances variation of stator and rotor winding are depend on temperature, the torque speed characteristics also affects in the induction motors. In this paper, a innovative approach is proposed to arrive the relation of temperature on torque. Thermal analysis of 160 L-frame induction motors is carried out using Finite Element Method (FEM) under various load to obtain temperature. The mathematical relationship between temperature and torque is arrived using curve fitting technique. The expression arrived in this method is used to predict the torque for a given temperature of SCIM.

More than 30 million electric motors are sold every year in the world, in the last 20 years the appearance of more efficient electric motors resulted in the replacement of more than 70% of the old motors installed. New technologies are being presented by manufacturers as substitutes for the squirrel cage induction motor (SCIM). Given this scenario, studies should be carried out to analyze the performance of these motors in the same operating conditions to know their main advantages and drawbacks. This study presents a comparison of the performance of electric motors classes IE2, IE3 and IE4 in the presence of voltage unbalance (VU) with under and over voltage. Results show that not only the unbalance percentage present impacts the motor performance, but also the magnitudes of the voltages present. The VU also results in an increase in the harmonics present in each motor, mainly in the permanent magnet hybrid motor, which presents non-linear characteristics.

Abstract Agriculture is a socially significant sector of the economy. The growth of agricultural production contributes to the stable development of society. It is necessary to use new mechanisms driven by induction motors to increase agricultural productivity. Three-phase induction motors are mainly used in the electric drive of agricultural machines. At the same time, it is advisable to use a single-phase network to supply power to remote farms. In this regard, the development of a single-phase electric drive using three-phase motors becomes relevant. In this work, a study of an original semiconductor device for starting a three-phase induction motor from a single-phase network is made. The simulation model of the device created in the Matlab Simulink environment made it possible to study the electromechanical characteristics of the induction motor when operating from a single-phase network. A comparison of the characteristics of the motor during operation from a three-phase and a single-phase network is carried out. The most significant results of the work are the data obtained that the developed device can be used to start and operate a squirrel cage induction motor from a single-phase network. At the same time, the engine energy parameters change slightly.

The development of electronic power components has allowed the increase of the induction machine performance. Indeed, monitoring squirrel cage induction motors driven through rectifiers and inverters has been a major concern. This paper presents a new method to diagnose the combination inverter-machine faults. This technic considers an auxiliary winding which is a small coil inserted between two stator phases. It is based on Lissajous curve of this auxiliary winding voltage Park components. For this purpose, modeling the electromechanical conversion chain is necessary. The focus will particularly be on modeling both the squirrel cage induction machine and the inverter in a non-defected case which is a reference. Moreover, the explicit expressions developed for the inserted winding voltage and its Park components will be presented. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
