This paper includes Voronovskaya type results and convergence in variation for the exponential Bernstein Kantorovich operators. The Voronovskaya type result is accompanied by a relation between the mentioned operators and suitable auxiliary discrete operators. Convergence of the operators with respect to the variation seminorm is obtained in the space of functions with bounded variation. We propose a general framework covering the results provided by previous literature.

Difference of exponential type Szász and Szász-Kantorovich operators is obtained. Similar estimates are given for higher order $\mu$-derivatives of the Szász operators and the Szász-Kantorovich type operators acting on the same order $\mu$-derivative of the function. These differences are given in quantitative form using first modulus of continuity. Convergence in variation of the operators in the space of functions with bounded variation with respect to the variation seminorm is obtained. The results propose a general framework covering the results provided by previous literature.

The overtaking dilemma involving two small vehicles was discussed by Herman and Lam in 1972. The formulation in a dynamical moving frame of the overtaken vehicle is extended by taking into account the pertinent variables for an overtaking scenario, such as vehicle acceleration and deceleration characteristics, roadway frictional characteristics, drivers' responses, and speeds of the overtaking vehicle and the oncoming vehicle in relation to the overtaken vehicle. A general framework dealing with overtaking is introduced, and analytic expressions for safe passing and aborting sight distances are derived for frictional roadway characteristics from the AASHTO guide. This formulation is further extended to other situations, namely, overtaking that involves a small and a long vehicle and overtaking that involves two long vehicles. Comparisons among our results, the AASHTO guide, the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices on design for safe passing sight distances (PSD), and other related works are given for various overtaking situations. The overtaking scenario in which the vehicle overtaken is “fast” is addressed. Finally, the previous literature associated with the development of PSD is discussed.

We present a review on recent approximation results in the space of functions of bounded variation for some classes of integral operators in the multidimensional setting. In particular, we present estimates and convergence in variation results for both convolution and Mellin integral operators with respect to the Tonelli variation. Results with respect to a multidimensional concept ofφ-variation in the sense of Tonelli are also presented.

In the present paper, our purpose is to obtain a nonlinear approximation by using convergence in ?-variation. Angeloni and Vinti prove some approximation results considering linear sampling-type discrete operators. These types of operators have close relationships with generalized sampling series. By improving Angeloni and Vinti?s one, we aim to get a nonlinear approximation which is also generalized by means of summability process. We also evaluate the rate of approximation under appropriate Lipschitz classes of ?-absolutely continuous functions. Finally, we give some examples of kernels, which fulfill our kernel assumptions.

AbstractIn the present paper we study the Bézier variant of the well known Balazs-Kantorovich operators L n,α(f,x), α ≥ 1. We establish the rate of convergence for functions of bounded variation. For particular value α = 1, our main theorem completes a result due to Agratini [Math. Notes (Miskolc) 2 (2001), 3–10].

In this paper, we construct generalized Baskakov Kantorovich operators. We establish some direct results and then study weighted approximation, simultaneous approximation and statistical convergence properties for these operators. Finally, we obtain the rate of convergence for functions having a derivative coinciding almost everywhere with a function of bounded variation for these operators.

In this note, we derive some approximation properties of the generalized Bernstein-Kantorovich type operators based on two nonnegative parameters considered  by A. Kajla [Appl. Math. Comput. 2018]. We establish Voronovskaja type asymptotic theorem for these operators. The rate of convergence for differential functions whose derivatives are of bounded variation is also derived. Finally, we show the convergence of the operators by illustrative graphics in Mathematica software to certain functions.
