In a few years, so many Korean universities are entering Uzbekistan. Having experienced three of them, I would like to ask two questions today and talk about it. First, “What is the competitiveness of Korean universities and how is that competitiveness realized in Uzbekistan? ” Second, “How far does Uzbek try to accommodate Korean universities? (Computer operation system? University culture? Curriculum?)

How to train embedded software development talents that can meet the demands of embedded system companies is a very important task to the computer majors of colleges and universities. Some efficacious measures are given in this paper. These measures include infiltrating embedded software developing ideas and knowledge to existed related computer major courses such as computer operation system, data structure and the principles of computer composition, offering specialized embedded software developing course, studying and researching open source embedded operating system software, and introducing students to participate in embedded software developing course design and application project. Our practical teaching results proved they are very helpful to improve students’ embedded software design ability.

Empirical tests of the application of computer record linkage methods versus the use of routine clerical searching, for bringing together various vital and ill-health records, have shown that the success rate for the computer operation was higher (98.3 versus 96.7 per cent) and the proportion of false linkages very much lower (0.1 versus 2.3 per cent). The rate at which the ill-health records were processed by the computer was approximately 14,000 per minute of central processor time, representing a cost of a half a cent apiece.Factors affecting the speed, accuracy and cost of computerized record linkage are discussed.

British universities are experiencing a climate of fiscal austerity including severe budget cuts coupled with intensifying competition for markets have seen the emergence of audit culture which afflicts the public sector in general. This entails the risk to the integrity of university culture disappearing. This paper seeks to explore the interconnections between developing trends in universities which cause processes likely to undermine the objectivity and independence of research. We question that universities’ alignment with the capitalist business sector and the dominant market economy culture. Despite arguably positive aspects, there is a danger that universities may be dominated by hegemonic sectional interest rather than narratives of openness and democratically oriented critique. We also argue that audit culture embedded in reputation management, quality control and ranking hierarchies may necessarily promote deception while diminishing a collegiate culture of trust and pursuit of truth which is replaced by destructive impersonal accountability procedures. Such transitions inevitably contain insidious implications for the nature of the academy and undermine the values of academic-intellectual life.
