The predominantly Cretaceous gastropod genus Vanikoropsis Meek, 1876 is represented in the Paleocene of Denmark and West Greenland by four species, of which three are established herein as new, viz. Vanikoropsis mortenseni n. sp., Vanikoropsis (s.l.) jakobseni n. sp. and Vanikoropsis (s.l.) bashforthi n. sp. The Danish species was found in a boulder of Kerteminde Marl (Selandian, middle Paleocene) from Gundstrup, while the species from West Greenland were found in the localities Sonja Lens and Qaarsutjægerdal on the Nuussuaq peninsula (late Danian, early Paleocene). The Danish species extends the stratigraphic range of the genus into the middle Paleocene and supports the affinities of the Kerteminde Marl fauna to the Paleocene fauna of West Greenland.

Mixodectidae (Mammalia, Archonta) are an unusual, poorly known family of dermopteran-like mammals that have been discovered at several North American localities of primarily early Paleocene age. Among the three or four recognized mixodectid genera, Eudaemonema Simpson is perhaps one of the least understood, being known from only a few localities of late Torrejonian and earliest Tiffanian age. This paper reports on a new species of Eudaemonema from the late Paleocene of Alberta, Canada, that significantly extends the geographic and stratigraphic ranges of the genus. Eudaemonema webbi sp. nov. is known from middle and late Tiffanian localities in central and south central Alberta, and it represents the youngest and northernmost species of Eudaemonema so far discovered. E. webbi differs from the genotypic species E. cuspidata in being larger and in having a suite of dental characters (e.g., molariform posterior premolars, enlarged molar protocone and hypocone, development of a second grinding platform on the lower molars) that suggests an increased emphasis on grinding during mastication. E. webbi possesses several dental features (e.g., broad, shelf-like molar paraconid–paracristid, lingually shifted molar hypoconulid) that resemble those of cynocephalids (Mammalia, Dermoptera), with these resemblances interpreted herein as convergent. The occurrence of E. webbi at Gao Mine extends the stratigraphic range of Eudaemonema into the late Tiffanian (Ti5) and represents the youngest known record of Mixodectidae.

Most species of the middle and late Hettangian psiloceratid genusSunrisitesare endemic to the eastern Pacific, where they are common members of ammonoid assemblages. the Taseko Lakes map area in British Columbia yields diverse and well-preservedSunrisitesfaunas which are formally described here for the first time. Three new species are recognized,S. brimblecombei, S. chilcotinensis, andS. senililevis.the new species require an extension of the morphological range of the genus to include forms that become moderately involute at large shell diameters. Signs of sexual dimorphism are apparent within all three new species ofSunrisites.This work extends the stratigraphic range ofSunrisitesto include the latest Hettangian Rursicostatum Zone in North America. The distribution ofSunrisitessuggests that the Hispanic Corridor, which linked the western Tethyan Ocean and the eastern Pacific, may have been open during the Hettangian. Furthermore, occurrences of the genus constrain the Hettangian position of several allochthonous terranes to the northeastern Pacific.

The Paleocene deposits on the Nuussuaq peninsula (West Greenland) contain three new species belonging to the family Pseudolividae de Gregorio, 1880. Popenoeum lacunosum sp. nov., Pseudoliva praetermissa sp. nov. and Fusulculus nanapullus sp. nov. are described. The species Fusulculus koeneni (Ravn, 1939) from the Paleocene (Selandian) of Denmark is revised, a lectotype is designated and new figures are published.Pseudoliva (Fusopsis) canalifera Ravn, 1939 is excluded from the Pseudolividae and Fusopsis is considered to be a subjective junior synonym of Suessionia Cossmann, 1889, and therefore reassigned to the family Buccinidae Rafinesque, 1815.

The rich molluscan fauna from the Middle Danian (Early Paleocene) of Fakse contains five species of the gastropod family Scissurellidae Gray, 1847. This revision recognizes three new species, viz. Anatoma rosenkrantzi sp. nov., Praescissurella? ravni sp. nov. and Scissurella (s. l.) aliceae sp. nov. Anatoma danica Bandel, 1998 is considered a junior synonym of Leptomaria niloticiformis (von Schlotheim, 1820). The palaeoecoelogy of this scissurellid and pleurotomarid fauna and the associated mollusc fauna is noted.

As one of the highly diversified radiolarian groups in the Mesozoic, Vallupinae occurred widely in the tuffaceous claystone from the Mariana Trench of the upper Tithonian–Berriasian where the specimens are extremely well-preserved. The occurrence of diversified Vallupinae presented here is further evidence that the range of Vallupinae extends to Berriasian. The stratigraphic range and proposed possible phylogenetic relationships within the Subfamily Vallupinae are provided and 17 radiolarian species of this subfamily are presented, including three new species: Vallupus gracilis, Mesovallupus brevispina, and Neovallupus mediforma.

Abstract The fauna of bristletails of the genus Lepismachilis Verhoeff, 1910 in Montenegro and Serbia includes only one species L. (Berlesilis) targionii (Grassi, 1887) with 2 + 2 eversible vesicles on abdominal urocoxites II–VI. Three new species of this genus are described: L. (Lepismachilis) prijepolja sp. nov., L. (Lepismachilis) limensa sp. nov. from Serbia, and L. (Lepismachilis) alexandrae sp. nov. from Montenegro. All described new species belong to the species group of the subgenus Lepismachilis s. str. with 2 + 2 eversible vesicles on abdominal urocoxites II–V. Lepismachilis prijepolja sp. nov. differs from L. y-signata Kratochvíl, 1945 and L. notata Stach, 1919 by the color, drawings and ratios of the compound eyes; ratios of sensory field on fore femur of male, number of divisions of ovipositor. Lepismachilis limensa sp. nov. differs from L. hauseri Bitsch, 1974 and L. abchasica Kaplin, 2017 by ratios of paired ocelli, sensory field on fore femur of male; ratios and chaetotaxy of maxillary and labial palps. Lepismachilis alexandrae sp. nov. differs from L. abchasica by the drawings of the compound eyes; ratios of paired ocelli, sensory field on fore femur of male; number of divisions of the parameres and gonapophyses. A list of the Machilidae occurring in Balkan Peninsula is also provided.

Plant fossils from the volcano-clastic deposits of the lower part of the Tanyurer Formation and lower part of the Tavaivaam Unit in the Anadyr city area (Northeastrn Russia) are described for the first time. This assemblage was named as the Temlyan flora. It consists of 25 taxa and includes ferns, horsetails, lycophytes, ginkgoaleans, czekanowskialeans, cycadophytes, conifers and angiosperms. The Temlyan flora is similar in systematic composition to the Rarytkin flora from the upper part of the Rarytkin Formation which was dated as the late Maastrichtian-Danian. But it is distinguished from the latter by presence of the numerous relicts (Lokyma, Nilssonia, Encephalartopsis, Phoenicopsis and Ginkgo ex gr. sibirica). Probably the presence of relicts in the Temlyan flora is connected with influence of volcanic activity. Age of the Temlyan flora is determined as the late Maastrichtian-Danian on the basis of systematic similarity with the Rarytkin Flora. However this age may be slightly younger, possibly only early Paleocene, because the Tanyurer Formation superposes the Rarytkin Formation. Stratigraphic range of Lokyma, Nilssonia, Encephalartopsis, Phoenicopsis and Ginkgo ex gr. sibirica is extended from its previously known latest records in the early Campanian or middle Maastrichtian up to as late as the latest Maastrichtian or early Paleocene. It is very possible, that these typical Mesozoic taxa may have persisted into the Paleogene.

Some 2,000 Ptiliidae collected in the North and South Islands of New Zealand in 1983/1984 by Peter Hammond of the Natural History Museum, London, are determined to 34 species, four of which are new to the country. As there are very few previous records, most from the Auckland district of North Island, the Hammond collection provides much new distributional data. The three new species: Nellosana insperatus sp. n., Notoptenidium flavum sp. n., and Notoptenidium johnsoni sp. n., are described and figured; the genus Ptiliodes is moved from Acrotrichinae to Ptiliinae, and Ptenidium formicetorum Kraatz recorded as a new introduction. Information is provided to aid separation of the new species from those previously recorded.
