The power quality nowadays of the low voltage distribution system is vital for the utility and the consumer at the same time. One disturbing issue affected the quality conditions in the radial distribution system is load balancing. This survey paper is looking most the articles that deal with the phase nodal and lateral phase swapping because it is the efficient and direct method to maintain the current and voltage in balance situation, lead to a suitable reduction in the losses and preventing the wrong tripping of the protective relays.

Whenever a fault occurs at any stage of the power system, the magnitude of voltage and phase angle both are changed. In the distribution system, there are sensitive loads such as digital computers; motor drives, etc are connected with a system. Due to fault conditions, unbalancing in voltage may occur. So it may cause of damage to equipment. Fault in the distribution system may lead to a voltage dip in the system; it is the big problem of power quality. So it more important to understand the power quality and it is also important to analyze voltage dip propagation when different types of faults occur in the system. This research paper summarizes the results from a number of different voltage dips investigations and their verification of mathematical calculations. These investigations involve characterizing the voltage dips performance.

As an important electrical safety protection device in low voltage distribution system, residual current protection device is to protect the insulation line leakage fault; the electric shock of the people plays an important role in fault. From the protection characteristics of residual current protective device to points, those can be divided into, residual current protection device for residual pulsating direct current and residual dc, according to the residual sinusoidal alternating current.
