A new species of the praying mantis genus Arria Stål, Arria purasp. nov. from southwest China is described and illustrated. An overview, comparison, and distribution data of this tribe are given. A new synonym is created: Sinomiopteryx yunnanensis Xu, 2007 is a junior synonym of Arria pallida (Zhang, 1987). One new combination Arria brevifrons (Wang, 1991) comb. nov. (from Sinomiopteryx Tinkham), is proposed.

Indian species of Phrynocaria Timberlake, 1943 (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) are briefly reviewed and illustrated with notes on diagnosis, nomenclature, distribution and hosts. Coelophora circumusta (Mulsant, 1850), which has a limited distribution in India, is transferred to Phrynocaria (new combination) and Coelophora moseri Weise, 1902 is synonymized with it (new synonym). A new species, Phrynocaria perfida Poorani, sp. n. (Coleoptera, Coccinellidae) is described from South India based on specimens hitherto misidentified as a variety of C. circumusta. The validity of Phrynocaria funebris (Crotch, 1874) is confirmed based on examination and dissection of the type specimen; the species is redescribed and the male genitalia illustrated.

During a survey of entomopathogenetic fungi from Southwest China, a new species, Akanthomyces lepidopterorum was found on an undetermined lepidopteran larva. It differs from other species based on mostly smaller conidia, mononematous conidiophores and moderate length of phialide. Both the morphological identification and phylogenetic analysis of combined ITS, LSU and RPB2 sequence data support A. lepidopterorum as a new species. A new combination is also proposed in the genus Akanthomyces.

Among the Anatolian Tettigoniinae (Orthoptera, Tettigoniidae) the genera Anterastes, Koroglus, Sureyaella and Rhacocleis are distinguishable from the others by presence of one pair of spurs on the apico-ventral end of hind tibiae. The last two can be easily distinguished from the others by several distinct features, but the separation of the first two from each other is problematic. A new species described here provided opportunity of re-evaluating their taxonomy. The new species Anterastes antecessor sp. n. is described based on morphology, male calling song and genetic data. The taxonomy of Anterastes and Koroglus is rectified based on phylogentic hypotheses obtained from representative 16S rDNA haplotypes. Sureyaella bella, Parapholidoptera signata and Bolua turkiyae are used as out groups in different combinations to obtain a more stable phylogeny. Although analyses with different outgroups suggested the same topology, the phylogenetic tree with outgroups Parapholidoptera signata and Bolua turkiyae resulted with the highest bootstrap supports to the branches. Phylogenetic trees suggested the following relationships for the ingroup species; (A. antecessor sp. n. + ((Koroglus disparalatus + A. uludaghensis) + (A. turcicus + (A. niger + (A. ucari + A. babadaghi))) + ((A. tolunayi + (A. serbicus + A. antitauricus + A. burri)))). Considering the phylogenetic hypotheses and characters used in previous publications, Koroglus is put in synonymy with Anterastes, and a new combination is suggested for the only species of the former Anterastes disparalatus comb. n. A short remark is given about the characters used in the generic taxonomy of the group.

The generic group names Cymella Felder, 1874 and Myclela Watson, Fletcher & Nye, 1980 are excluded from the subtribe Nudariina and synonymized with the nominate subgenus of the genus Stigmatophora Staudinger, 1881 belonging to the subtribe Endrosiina. The type species of Cymella and Myclela, Cymella congerens Felder, 1874 is synonymized with the nominate subspecies of Stigmatophora (Stigmatophora) rhodophila (Walker, [1865]). The type locality of Cymella congerens is designated as Shanghai (E China). Two taxa previously treated as synonyms of S. congerens are upgraded to the species level and left in the genus Miltochrista Hübner, [1819]: Miltochrista artocarpi (Moore, 1878), stat. nov. and Miltochrista roseogrisea (Rothschild, 1913), stat. nov. The genus Asuropsis Matsumura, 1927 is excluded from the synonymy of Miltochrista and synonymized with the nominate subgenus of the genus Stigmatophora. The new combination is established: Stigmatophora (Stigmatophora) ranruna (Matsumura, 1927), comb. nov. A new species, Stigmatophora (Stigmatophora) cernyi Volynkin, sp. n. is described from North Thailand and Southwest China. Adults of both sexes of all the species mentioned and their genitalia are illustrated.

Eutremananum, a new high-elevation (4500–4600 m) species from Chola Shan, Sichuan (Southwest China), is described and illustrated. It is similar morphologically to E.nepalense but is readily distinguished by having oblong to elliptic or obovate to spatulate (vs. suborbicular to broadly ovate) leaves, glabrous (vs. puberulent) sepals and ovate to oblong fruit 4–7 × 2–3 mm with flattened valves (vs. ovoid to subglobose fruit 2–3 × 1.8–2 mm with rounded valves). The genetic differences amongst E.nanum, E.nepalense and other close relatives are further confirmed by phylogenetic analyses using ITS and cpDNA sequence variations. The new combination E.sinense is proposed.

Thiratoscirtina is an African endemic subtribe of aelurilline jumping spiders. Among the 18 genera belonging here, the genus Pochyta Simon, 1901 and its ten currently recognized species is yet to be revised, and the described species have been not studied from a taxonomical perspective. We examined all the species thought to belong here based on the type material. The limits of the genus are redefined. Pochyta moschensis Caporiacco, 1947 is proposed as the junior synonym of Natta horizontalis Karsch, 1879. Pochyta simoni Lessert, 1925 is transferred to the newly established genus Kibo gen. n., and a new combination Kibo simoni comb. n. is proposed for it. Both P. albimana Simon, 1902 and P. pannosa Simon, 1903 are proposed as a junior synonym of P. spinosa Simon, 1901, the type species. P. occidentalis Simon, 1902 is proposed as a junior synonym of P. pulchra (Thorell, 1899). Lectotypes are designated for Pochyta insulana and P. simoni. Seven new species are described: Pochyta aurantiaca sp. n. (♂♀), P. equatorialis sp. n. (♂♀), P. lucida sp. n. (♀), P. maddisoni sp. n. (♂♀), P. tendicula sp. n. (♂)—all from Gabon, P. konilokho sp. n. (♂) from Guinea, and P. minuta sp. n. (♀) from Nigeria. The yet unknown females of Pochyta fastibilis Simon, 1903, P. major Simon, 1902 and P. pulchra (Thorell, 1899) are described for the first time. New distribution data for some species are given.

A new species of Notocyrtus, N. costai sp. nov. is described from Surinam. Photographs in dorsal and lateral views are provided for this new species. Notocyrtoides Carvalho, Costa & Gil-Santana, 2001, is considered to be a junior synonym of Coilopus Elkins, 1969, with N. tuberculatus Carvalho, Costa & Gil-Santana, 2001, as a junior synonym of C. vellus Elkins, 1969. New occurrences of other Harpactorini species are recorded for the first time from Brazil: Harpactor rhombeus (Erichson, 1848), Orbella exceptio Bérenger, 2007, and Orbella putshkovi Bérenger, 2007; and from Surinam Notocyrtus dorsalis (Gray, 1832). Remarks on the color variation of these species and Notocyrtus ricciae Gil-Santana & Costa, 2001, and Notocyrtus dispersus Carvalho & Costa, 1992, are given.

Amarochara formicina sp. n. (Canada: New Brunswick), the 26th representative of the genus in the Holarctic region, is described and illustrated. The following synonymy and new combination are proposed: Amarochara freyi (Bernhauer, 1940), comb. n. (ex Ocyusa) = Amarochara splendens Jarrige, 1952, syn. n. Additional records are reported for several species of the Palaearctic and Nearctic regions. The previously unknown aedeagus of A. inquilina (Casey, 1906) is illustrated.

A new species Pedionis (Pedionis) damingshanensis sp. nov. from Guangxi of China is described and illustrated, a known species P. (P.) garuda (Distant, 1916) rec. nov. is reported for the first time and redescribed based on 4 specimens in Fujian, Guangdong, Yunnan of China, a new combination P. (P.) hamiltoni (Li, Dai & Li, 2014) comb. nov. from the genus Varicopsella is revealed and a junior synonym Varicopsella (Multispinulosa) Li, Dai & Li, 2014 syn. nov. under Pedionis (Pedionis) Hamilton, 1980 is proposed.

This report provides new information on three facets of a recently described Neotropical genus of chrysopine lacewings, Titanochrysa Sosa & Freitas 2012. First, because the current taxonomic understanding of the genus is based entirely on the adult stage, we describe the larvae and aspects of the biology of Titanochrysa trespuntensis Sosa & Freitas. We show that although T. trespuntensis larvae share many morphological and behavioral characteristics with other Neotropical genera of Chrysopini, they also differ significantly in many generic-level characters. Their unique suite of larval features provides strong support for the designation of this group of lacewings as a genus. Second, Titanochrysa is known to contain four species; this report describes the adult of a fifth species—Titanochrysa simpliciala New Species, from Costa Rica. Third, the report presents new locality records for three of the original four Titanochrysa species and deals with several taxonomic issues. Specifically, (a) Chrysopa annotaria Banks is transferred to the genus; thus the valid name for the species becomes Titanochrysa annotaria (Banks), New Combination. (b) Titanochrysa pseudovaricosa (Penny) is documented as a New Synonym of T. annotaria. (c) Chrysopa nigripalpis Banks is identified as a New Synonym of Titanochrysa circumfusa (Burmeister).
