The Huanghekou Sag, as an important oil-bearing zone, is located in the southeastern part of the Bohai Bay basin. It has higher values for petroleum exploration-especially in Neogene. The Neogene was a depressional lacustrine period and was characterized with both tectonically stable and gentle topography. Thus it is difficult to identify and subdivide sequences using the traditional method. Based on the practical geologic setting and current data of the Neogene of Huanghekou Sag, using the new method to set up the isochronous sequence stratigraphic framework. By analyzing climate cycle, drilling well and logging cycle, seismic cycle and the identification of unconformity of seismic and drilling well and logging data, the Neogene was divided into 5 third-order sequences and 10 systems tracts. In different sequence sets and systems tract, which was controlled by climate, ratio rate between sedimentary being supplied and accommodated, the sand body scale was different.

<p>There are more than one thousand meters thick of Paleogene volcanic stratigraphy in Liaohe Depression, Bohai Bay Basin, East China. We can identify and divide these Paleogene volcanic stratigraphy into 14 stages (Huang et al., 2014; Feng et al., 2015).</p><p>We take samples of buried basalts from depth 1418m to 3951m, then use optical microscope, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electron probe microanalyzer (EPMA) techniques to analyze mineral transformation during the burial process of basalt. Our goal is to establish a mineral transformation model of buried basalts in this area.</p><p>We summarized that pyroxene have no alter during burial; feldspar alteration sequence: plagioclase -- phillipsite/chabazite -- analite; olivine alteration sequence: olivine -- smectite -- mixed-layer minerals (chlorite and smectite) -- chlorite; calcium is precipitated while mineral transformation, which can form calcite and fill the pores.</p><p>We concluded that (1) from depth 2400m to 3700m (underground temperature 85~130℃), the effective micropores of phenocryst are mainly intra-crystalline pores of phillipsite; (2) below 3700m (underground temperature above 130℃) the effective pores are mainly calcite dissolved pores. Bohai Bay Basin is a hot area for research marine petroleum. Petroleum System is an important method to study petroleum. However, facing on more complicated middle-high graded petroleum exploration area, formerly elements of the Petroleum System are not enough to cover all factors. Hydrocarbon was controlled by main migration path, additionally the complicated mechanism and controlling factors in a formed oil-gas pool are carefully considered. We put “track down (oil-gas reservoir) by following clues (the main migration path of petroleum)” based on the Dongying Depression data, and drill the best of all targets for oil-gas reservoir on the condition of revealing oil resource. The venture of petroleum exploration can be reduced farthest, and the benefit of petroleum exploration can be increased farthest by the method.
