An informed introduction to AMs requires the ability to determine whether and when AMs are better than traditional software development methodologies. The risk is that AMs are considered just like another tool. Altogether to accredit AMs we need to show the qualified evidence of their effectiveness, performance, productivity, in the different contexts where they can be introduced. This analysis is difficult as such effectiveness varies with the development environment, depending on several aspects, such as skills, resources and culture. However, this analysis is a key ingredient for the creation of a comprehensive body of knowledge on AMs.

The Software Configuration Management (SCM) process with its origin in hardware development was first applied to the software development environment in the 1950's. Since then many IT dynamics associated with this process have evolved, such as, software development methodologies, software process improvement standards, computing environments, and organizational needs. Through the observation of these IT dynamics, which the researchers called “the tetrad influences”, it is now apparent that there is a need to look into new adaptable approaches to apply the SCM process for traceability and governance. In this paper, we will present a conceptual framework highlighting the tetrad influences on the SCM process and will propose a Software configuration Adaptable Lean Agile Management “SALAM” model as a solution. We contribute a case study of a large Australian IT project where hybrid project teams delivered a consolidated software product in a hybrid cloud computing environment.

The delivery process of any IT organization depends on the effective software development methodologies. Along with conventional software development methodologies, corporates are also found to adopt various quality standards in order to enhance their development methodologies. Although there were substantial researches work carried out in past, majority of the study discusses about the theoretical implementation of quality standards. Due to various intermittent impediments, e.g., requirement volatility, skill gap, schedule slippage, etc., the standard quality models are very often violated in real time environment leading to degradation in development methodologies. Hence, this manuscript discusses an integrated framework using Scrum, Lean Six Sigma, and Agile which has been formulated on the basis on existing flaws in software development methodologies and propose some of the potential features to enhance it.
