The traditional mixed oral English teaching model has many obvious shortcomings, such as the inability to correct the students’ oral pronunciation errors and feed them back in time, which leads to the slow improvement of students’ English learning level. For this reason, this paper proposes a guided teaching model based on core literacy. According to the structure of the oral English mixed teaching model, determine the application plan of the oral English mixed teaching model, design the development environment, obtain the corpus, design the oral training model, extract the oral features, identify the wrong pronunciation and correct it in time, clarify the evaluation purpose, obtain preliminary evaluation indicators, reduce evaluation indicators and determine indicator weights, obtain indicator feature information, generate fuzzy rules, obtain fuzzy matrices, achieve quantitative evaluation, and synthesize all evaluation scores to construct a result vector matrix to realize the study of mixed spoken language teaching mode. Research shows that the mixed teaching method is effective and feasible and can effectively improve the accuracy of the evaluation results of the mixed oral English teaching model.

Manufacturing industries based on Internet of Things (IoT) technologies play an important role in the economic development of intelligent agriculture and watering. Water availability has become a global problem that afflicts many countries, especially in remote and desert areas. An efficient irrigation system is needed for optimizing the amount of water consumption, agriculture monitoring, and reducing energy costs. This paper proposes a real-time monitoring and auto-watering system based on predicting mathematical models that efficiently control the water rate needed. It gives the plant the optimal amount of required water level, which helps to save water. It also ensures interoperability among heterogeneous sensing data streams to support large-scale agricultural analytics. The mathematical model is embedded in the Arduino Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for sensing the soil moisture level and checking whether it is less than the pre-defined threshold value, then plant watering is performed automatically. The proposed system enhances the watering system’s efficiency by reducing the water consumption by more than 70% and increasing production due to irrigation optimization. It also reduces the water and energy consumption amount and decreases the maintenance costs.

The Department of Defense (DoD) is often exhorted to adopt best practices from industry, and more recently, innovation in software development as exemplified by Silicon Valley. Yet, the DoD is vastly different from industry in multiple aspects, and adoption of such practices is not as straightforward as in industry. This article investigates the challenges of adopting Development and Operations (DevOps) in the U.S. Navy for combat systems. The authors conducted interviews of multiple subject matter experts in the Navy and DoD familiar with software development, DevOps, and the DoD’s acquisition processes. The observations collected from the interviews were organized and classified into either organizational, process, regulatory challenges, and technical challenges. The majority of the challenges cited were nontechnical challenges dealing with regulations, organization culture, and process. Knowledge of the challenges could help acquisition leaders in planning for, and adapting DevOps to, the Navy’s acquisition process to improve DoD’s software development and maintenance processes.

This chapter is aimed at studying the key performance indicators of team members working in an agile project environment and in an extreme programming software development. Practitioners from six different XP projects were selected to respond to the survey measuring the performance indicators, namely, escaped defects, team member's velocity, deliverables, and extra efforts. The chapter presents a comparative view of Scrum and XP, the two renowned agile methods with their processes, methodologies, development cycles, and artifacts, while assessing the base performance indicators in XP setup. These indicators are key to any agile project in a global software development environment. The observed performance indicators were compared against the gold standard industry benchmarks along with best, average, and worst-case scenarios. Practitioners from six agile XP projects were asked to participate in the survey. Observed results best serve the practitioners to take necessary course corrections to stay in the best-case scenarios of their respective projects.

Abstract As a result of the advancements that have occurred in the technical field of geomatics, particularly after the development of developmental programming environments, they have become the most important machine for conducting image analyses of satellite data, creating and modifying spatial analysis tools, and performing large data analyses at a fast rate without the need for high-end specifications on the personal computer. This study has several objectives, including the definition and popularization of the use of the power of Google Earth Engine (GEE) in the speed of conducting spatial analyzes, which cite by conducting a classification at the level of a governorate and obtaining results with speed and relatively good quality. By using the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform and through Javascript programming language, a classification of the land cover of Wasit Governorate, Iraq was created under the supervision of a satellite image (Landsat 8) by creating a training sample, Google Maps’ High Resolution basemap imagery was used to create this map to identify classes of landcover (water, bare soil, vegetation, and urban). Each source pixel is assigned to one of the previously mentioned classes. Then to create a land cover map of the region using the Statistical Machine Intelligence and Learning Engine (SMILE) classifier from the JAVA library, which is used by Google Earth Engine (GEE) to implement these algorithms. The result is an array of pixels (raster data). The pixel value represents the class that was previously determined by the samples.

The Product Owner and Scrum Master are members of the Scrum Team, which play an essential role in Global Software Development. They must have some competencies that can overcome challenges in the global environment. This study aims to develop the competencies of these two roles and explore issues of global competencies. Researchers conducted a literature study to produce a list of competencies and in-depth interviews to explore the issues. Data processing uses content analysis and descriptive statistics. The author compiled questionnaires and generated three issues, then held a Focus Group Discussion for validation. Without reducing the nature of scrum, the consensus of experts had approved 31 competencies for the product owner while 34 for the scrum master. This research enriches scrum.org and has a global impact on improving Scrum and Global Software Development human capital and IT professionals.

Temperature control becomes increasingly necessary with each day, be it in industrial, commercial or residential environments. In a similar way, technology has become a common tool in everyday life. Thus, the technologies need to accompany advances in the controls of processes in many fields, creating applications that can be used in mobile devices alongside these processes. Therefore, this paper proposes temperature monitoring of an environment, via Bluetooth wireless communication and with interface display on a mobile application, developed in MIT App Inventor. While implementing commands via hardware and software a procedure to lower room temperature was applied through a ventilation system. The data are collected through a DHT11 temperature sensor, and the wireless communication is through a HC-05 Bluetooth module, both connected to the development board Arduino. It was possible to condition the cooler to work accordingly with a preset temperature range by using its IDE (Integrated Development Environment). Thereby, this project is a low-cost and advantageous alternative to temperature control and monitoring supported by technological advancements.
