Knowledge-based decision support systems (KBDSS) hold up business and organizational decision-making activities on the basis of the knowledge available concerning the domain under question. One of the main problems with knowledge bases is that their construction is a time-consuming task. A number of methodologies have been proposed in the context of the Semantic Web to assist in the development of ontology-based knowledge bases. In this paper, we present a technique for populating knowledge bases from semi-structured text which take advantage of the semantic underpinnings provided by ontologies. This technique has been tested and evaluated in the financial domain

The reception of journalists at the Waspada Daily Medan always went through several rigorous selections before being determined to be accepted as journalists at the Waspada Medan Daily. There are several criteria that must be possessed by each participant as a condition for becoming a journalist in the Daily Alert Medan. To get the best participants, the Waspada Medan Daily needed a decision support system. Decision Support Systems (SPK) are part of computer-based information systems (including knowledge-based systems (knowledge management)) that are used to support decision making within an organization or company. Decision support systems provide a semitructured decision, where no one knows exactly how the decision should be made. In this study the authors applied the VlseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR) as the method to be applied in the decision support system application. The VIKOR method is part of the Multi-Attibut Decision Making (MADM) Concept, which requires normalization in its calculations. The expected results in this study can obtain maximum decisions. Keywords: Journalist Acceptance, Decision Support System, VIKOR

Traditional decision support systems are based on the paradigm of a single decision maker working at a standalone computer or terminal who has a specific decision to make with a specific goal in mind. Organizational decision support systems aim to support decision makers at all levels of an organization (from executive, middle management managers to operators), who have a variety of decisions to make, with different priorities, often in a distributed and dynamic environment. Such systems need to be designed and developed with extra functionality to meet the challenges such as collaborative working. This article proposes an Integrated Decision Support Environment (IDSE) for organizational decision making. The IDSE distinguishes itself from traditional decision support systems in that it can flexibly configure and re-configure its functions to support various decision applications. IDSE is an open software platform which allows its users to define their own decision processes and choose their own exiting decision tools to be integrated into the platform. The IDSE is designed and developed based on distributed client/server networking, with a multi-tier integration framework for consistent information exchange and sharing, seamless process co-ordination and synchronisation, and quick access to packaged and legacy systems. The prototype of the IDSE demonstrates good performance in agile response to fast changing decision situations.

Decision making is done in many application areas. Still most studies are done in such fields as economy and production planning. In methodologies used there exists more variation. This paper reviews the decision concepts discussed in the literature. Also some decision models by the author are commented. The field and practise in decision science is summarized. Although decision support systems are the final results of many projects, they are mostly based on the decision concepts behind the studies that deserve also more detailed examination. Decision analysis approach and knowledge-based technologies are examples of commonly used concepts.

This article reviews the literature-based issues involved in implementing large-scale decision-making support systems (DMSSs). Unlike previous studies, this review studies holistically three types of DMSSs (model-based decision support systems, executive-oriented decision support systems, and knowledge-based decision support systems) and incorporates recent studies on the simulation of the implementations process. Such an article contributes to the literature by organizing the fragmented knowledge on the DMSS implementation phenomenon and by communicating the factors and stages involved in successful or failed large-scale DMSS implementations to practitioners.

This paper provides an integrated and comprehensive conceptual framework for knowledge based decision making support systems. Previous research has focused primarily on general decision support systems. The paper extends the previous work by presenting a framework to support specific decisions using knowledge marts that contain decision pertinent knowledge. A proposed methodology to test the effectiveness of this new model is proposed. The model presented provides much more specific knowledge support than previous systems.
