Fossil fuel resources are decreasing daily and attracted researchers to focus on alternative fuels. Biofuels (renewable fuels) are attracting attention worldwide as blending components or direct replacements for petroleum based fuel in vehicle engines. Moreover, Biofuel will also provide rich biomass and nutrients to the soil. This paper presents the results of performance and emission analysis carried out in a naturally aspirated unmodified diesel engine fuelled with preheated crude palm oil (PCPO) and its blends with diesel. It was observed that preheated CPO reduces exhaust emissions such as CO and HC as compared to ordinary diesel (OD). This is mainly attributed to the fact that preheating of crude palm oil reduces its viscosity to the level of ordinary diesel fuel, which improves the fuel spray and atomization characteristics and produces better combustion.

The use of fossil fuel is increasing drastically due to its consumption in all consumer activities. The utility of fossil fuel depleted its existence, degraded the environment and led to reduction in underground carbon resources. Hence the search for alternative fuels is paying attention for making sustainable development, energy conservation, efficiency and environmental preservation. The worldwide reduction of underground carbon resources can be substituted by the bio-fuels. The researchers around the world are finding the alternate fuel that should have the least impact on the environment degradation. This paper aims at finding an alternative for diesel and reducing the pressure on its existing demand. This study aimed at using two types of oil mixtures namely cashew nut shell oil and camphor oil mixed with diesel, turpentine oil mixed with diesel in different proportions as fuel in twin cylinder four stroke diesel engine. Performance and emission analysis have been performed by using exhaust gas analyzer in the oil samples. It was observed that 40% cashew nut shell oil and 10%camphor oil mixed with 50% diesel, 50% turpentine oil mixed with 50% diesel shows the better engine performance and also less emissions.

Rapid increasing of industrialization and motorization has led arising of petroleum and energy demand. This pursue a new energy blends to cater the depletion of fossil fuel and the environmental degradation condition. Malaysia is blessed, which has suitable climate to plant alternative fuel (palm oil) and become one of the largest exporters to the world. Palm oil in its refined form as cooking oil has high energy content which can be adopted as an alternative to the petroleum based fuel. This paper evaluates the performance and emission characteristics of refined palm oil (RPO) as a fuel to the diesel engine. Palm oil and its blends composition with 20%, 40%, 60% as well as pure palm oil (100%) and diesel were tested separately under various engine loads. Five series of tests data on each type of fuel were analyzed and compared. Moreover, by increasing the percentage of RPO in blends would lead a character of higher percentage in density and viscosity. Studied revealed that the small percentage of RPO composition promises a good thermal efficiency together with the emission released.
