An Monitor& Diagnosis Support System for Nuclear Power Plants (NPPMDS) is developed in the embedded real-time operation system VxWorks in this paper. NPPMCS includes data collection and validation unit, operation monitoring unit, fault diagnosis unit, alarm analysis unit, operation procedures and Human-machine interface and so on. The paper introduces the design and implementation of NPPMDS including the structure of the NPPMDS and the main function units. In order to confirm the validity of this system, the SGTR simulation experiment was carried out on a full scale simulator of nuclear power plants. The experimental results show that the system provides operation support, the load and pressure for the workers can be reduced and the safety of nuclear power plants can be enhanced.

According to Post Fukushima action items in Korea, KHNP has established the integrated aging management system to reinforce aging management of system, structures, and components (SSCs) effectively for seven operating units, which are in service for more than twenty years, and for Kori Unit 1 and Wolsung Unit 1, which are subject to continued operation (CO) based on NUREG-1801 GALL report. KHNP’s integrated aging management programs (AMPs) focus on the establishment of aging management system for long-lived operation of nuclear power plants in Korea. The integrated aging management system consists of the integrated AMP standard guideline, operating guideline for each plant, individual AMPs of each plant, and AMP Data Base (DB) system including implementation results, basic DB information related to facilities operating in NPPs, and operating information such as operating experience and evaluation report. The integrated aging management system is importantly utilized for Periodic Safety Review (PSR) and the renewal of CO. Therefore, it will be largely contributed to keep NPPs the level of safety for long time operation through the effective aging management.

Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs) are nowadays facing a transition from analog to digital control rooms, mainly in the form of new interfaces for displaying sensor information as of Human Machine Interface (HMI) were one-sided, taking into consideration either the human or the machine perspective. The approach presented in the present article considers human machine interfaces met in nuclear power plants as a joint system, where the performance of the NPP operator is evaluated according to the cooperation level achieved with the machine. In particular, the purpose of this study is to provide a methodology to evaluate the degree of flexibility of an operator during the transition period from an analog to a digital system. The proposed methodology has been implemented by utilizing fuzzy logic inference and realized with the fuzzy toolbox embedded in Matlab software.

The Human Machine Interface (HMI) of Monitor& Control System (MCS) is an important part of main control room in Nuclear Power Plants (NPP). The MCS is integrated by networks, digital computers and computer software. The paper discusses a new design mode for the HMI of MCS in Nuclear Power Plants. How to make the MCS information available is the focus of the HMI research. The paper discusses the design and research about the main layout and functions of the HMI. In order to verify and validate the design of HMI, the HMI of MCS is developed by a configuration software of JADE. HMI debugged with the NPP simulator. The Test illustrates that the HMI can help the operators to get very important information from MCS, which help the operators to operate the nuclear plant safely and reduces the human error.
