Active thermal control systems and their advantages are considered, spacecraft for which the use of this type of thermal control systems is a priority. The electric pumping unit is pointed as a key unit of active thermal control systems. The electric pump unit is considered from the as the electromechanical system, its key elements are pointed. A description of the preferred pump types is reported and the types of active thermal control systems are briefly discussed. The foreign and domestic operating experience of spacecraft electric pumping units, the features of their designs are considered, the most common types of key elements are determined. Based on the results of the review, it is concluded that the most relevant layout of the electric pump unit is a centrifugal electrical pump with a brushless DC motor and hydrodynamic bearings. It is also indicated that the electric pump unit is a product with a long lifetime, which complicates the task of monitoring the technical condition in order to prevent failure.

A large contribution to the final cost of machine-building products is made by the efficiency of blank production, in which a waste-free shear cut is used. The most promising for the implementation of the method of shear cutting are dies with a differentiated clamping of rolled products. The aim of the work is to develop a new die design with a differentiated clamping of rolled products with high technical and economic characteristics and recommendations for the design of such equipment. On the basis of the developed graph of constructions of dies with a differentiated clamping of rolled products, design features have been identified, which made it possible to create a new die design. Compared with the known structures, in the stamp of the DSEA structure, the transverse dimensions and weight are reduced by an average of 25%, and the height of the open stamped space – by 10%. In the process of dividing in the vertical plane, a constant position of the rolling axis is ensured. The transfer of force to the clamp through the rolling is excluded. The stamp has high rigidity. The stamps of the DSEA design have been introduced at the Odessa PJSC "Stroygidravlika". The economic effect of the implementation was 100000 UAH. Acceptance test results showed that the dies of the new design are efficient and reliable in operation. The quality of the cut workpieces corresponds to the quality indicators of the workpieces cut on modern similar equipment. On the basis of theoretical analysis, experimental studies and operating experience of dies with differential clamping of rolled products, known and formulated new recommendations for the design of such dies. The main ones are: it is necessary to provide a differentiated clamping of rolled products on both sides of the separation plane, subject to the condition that the clamping force should be one and a half times greater than the cutting force; the die body is preferably box-shaped to compensate for thrust forces and torsional moments of forces; the power parts of the stamp must be made in a closed form with stiffening ribs to ensure strength under cyclic stress conditions.

Abstract. The article describes a unique dataset of zooplankton collected by the large Juday net in the North Pacific – one of the most productive and economically important regions of the world ocean (Volvenko, 2021a https://doi.pangaea.de/10.1594/PANGAEA.937751): the sources and extent of the information contained therein, its benefits and drawbacks, the first operating experience and prospects. The information in this dataset has already been used to quantify the inventory of marine biological resources and appraise the waters of the Far East seas and adjacent Pacific Ocean. In 2016, five tabular reference books were created and printed containing the species composition, occurrence (samples, %) and abundance (ind./m3, mg/m3) of zooplankton in the surveyed area. The data is aggregated by species, developmental stages, size fractions, standard regions, vertical layers of water, light and dark time of day, four seasons of the year and multi-year periods. This information has recently been verified, corrected, translated into English and from text to digital format, and supplemented by GIS with maps of the standard regions by which data was summarized with their morphometric characteristics (Volvenko, 2021b https://doi.pangaea.de/10.1594/PANGAEA.937752) to increase its availability to the scientific community worldwide. The scope of application of this data is fundamental to the management of marine resources, aquaculture development, nature conservation, and assessment of the damage of various anthropogenic factors on nature.

Annotation – With commissioning of the “Socofl Star” ship’s series, negative occurrences relative to surging of the Main Engine (ME) «Hanshin Diesel» 6LF46 turbochargers (TC) VTR 401-2. To elimination of a surging, it was necessary reduce loading of ME to the safe level. This action caused the ship’s speed to fall from 11 – 10 to 4 knots which resulted in worsening of the ship’s maneuverability characteristics and lead to the failure to provide the ship’s service speed stipulated in the contractual arrangements. Existence of this problem instigated the shipowner to charge us as experts with the mission of carrying out appropriate investigations and working out recommendations as to how to prevent and eliminate surging of TC. This task was solved on the m/v “Socofl Star”. Based on results the ME shop test and trial test of the vessel and also the saved-up data of work of ME in various conditions of swimming, the analysis of the causes of a surge of the TC was made. It is established that small values of safety factor of stability of the compressor of TC on a surging – KCT which are not allowing to ensure effective functioning of TC on the main modes of loading of ME are its reason. For increase in area of steady work of TC it is necessary to reduce the hydraulic resistance of components of the Air-Gas Path (AGP) of the ME which can be realized by changes in a design of units of air supply and gas exchange or reduction of productivity and extent of increase in pressure of air in the compressor of TC. Under operating conditions vessels an optimal solution an objective is removal of a part of blowing-off air after compressor of the TC. The air can be discharged into the flue gas header after the waste heat recovery boiler or directly into the atmosphere. This allowed the shipowner not to make constructive changes to the components of the AGP of ME and TC. The description of the operated unloading device controlled remotely on removal of air which ensures effective functioning of TC and ME that is confirmed by results of natural tests and the subsequent operating experience of vessels of the “Socofl Star” series is provided.

Abstract Thermal cycling induced fatigue is widely recognized as one of the major contributors to the damage of nuclear plant piping systems, especially at locations where turbulent mixing of flows with different temperature occurs. Thermal fatigue caused by swirl penetration interaction with normally stagnant water layers has been identified as a mechanism that can lead to cracking in dead-ended branch lines attached to pressurized water reactor (PWR) primary coolant system. EPRI has developed screening methods, derived from extensive testing and analysis, to determine which lines are potentially affected as well as evaluation methods to perform evaluations of this thermal fatigue mechanism for the U.S. PWR plants. However, recent industry operating experience (OE) indicate that the model used to predict thermal fatigue due to swirl penetration is not fully understood. In addition, cumulative effects from other thermal transients, such as outflow activities, may also contribute to the failure of the RCS branch lines. In this paper, we report direct OE from one of our PWR units where thermal fatigue cracking is observed at the RCS loop drain line close to the welded region of the elbow. A conservative analytical approach that takes into account the influence of thermal stratification, in accordance with ASME Class 1 piping stress method, is also proposed to evaluate the severity of fatigue damage to the RCS drain line, as a result of transients from outflow activities. Finally, recommendations are made for future operation and inspection based on results of the evaluation.

The paper considers selected features of the protective ion-plasma coating deposition onto large-sized gas turbine components using vacuum-arc method by means of the MESh-50 and MAP-R pilot plants. The units have been developed based on the long-term operating experience of MAP-1 (MAP-1M) serial production. These plants are widely used in Russian and international aircraft-building complexes enabling all basic ion-plasma technological processes using standard cathodes made of nickel, cobalt, aluminum alloys and pure metals (Cu, Ti, Cr, Zr, etc.). The increased dimensions of the deposition chamber and the simultaneous use of several evaporators with pipe cathodes 180 mm in diameter and 540 mm high make it possible to apply coatings to large-sized components of gas turbine engines and plants, including such complex parts as “blisk” and “blink”.

Given that short videos have attractedextensive attention of the public, the rise of governmental short videos makes governmental new media more interactive and responsive. However, the competition of short video market is fierce. A considerable number of government agencies and public institutions lack operating experience on short video accounts. The overall influence of these short video accounts is weak, and a mechanism of short video production is necessary. From the perspective that a new era is expected to fulfill people’s wish for a good life, we suggest combining people’s wish for a good life and governmental short videos. One the one hand, this approach identifies the audience clearly and thus benefits the production of high-quality short videos; on the other hand, it helps to attract more audience and thus meets the people’s needs for a good life in the new era. Governmental short video production should focus on three aspects: sense of fulfillment, sense of happiness, and sense of safety.Production guarantee should focus on contents, platforms, and dissemination motivations.
