With the development of streaming media technology, its application area enlarges gradually. Using streaming media technology for remote online video conferencing has great practical value. In this paper, streaming video conferencing system based on P2P technology is researched and realized.

Education modes, such as distance education and online learning, based on client/server mode in traditional streaming systems, have bottlenecks in network bandwidth and single server point. This paper reviews these bottlenecks and integrades P2P technology together with streaming media technology, and provides a discussion on the steaming media over P2P technology.

The streaming media technology can effectively break the bandwidth bottleneck and make video/audio streaming pass through the internet smoothly. A video network platform based on the streaming media technology can well satisfy the user's requirements. This paper gives an introduction of the streaming media content type and streaming protocols. It also designs a video network platform based on B/S mode using the streaming media technology with the background management function.
