Through analysis of the technology status of the green building in Xi'an area, targeted Raised the technology development strategy of green building to adapt to the characteristics of the region, such as improve local standards of green building technology system, strengthen the propaganda and training on green building knowledge, improve energy efficiency, use of renewable energy, good publicity and promotion of exemplary green building, full application of green building materials, use of non-traditional water sources and recycling water, etc., in order to provide a reference for the development of green buildings in Xi'an area.

Urban population has been increased rapidly and caused such urban problems as shortage of housing and traffic jam, and the continuously expanding buildings have resulted in strong impact on global resource consumption and environmental pollution. Green building materials are the basic guarantee to the quality and service life of buildings, the material carrier to realize various functions of buildings and also the foundation and support to develop green buildings. Based on the coherence and relevance of assessment on full life cycle of buildings and building materials, the influence of exterior window selection on carbon emission of buildings was analyzed in aspects of the initial stage (production, consumption and transport of building materials) of carbon emission of buildings, i.e. the intrinsic energy per unit product, operation, demolition and treatment. The comprehensive assessment was also established, and the selection of green building materials was investigated for exterior windows based on the reduction of energy consumption during full life cycle of buildings by combining such indicators as the usability, durability, fireproofness, environmental protection and functionality of exterior windows. It solved the puzzles of architects on selection of building materials and the puzzles of building material manufacturers on demand of green buildings. The selection of green building materials on green buildings was promoted and the realization of the goal of "green buildings" also assisted.

These years, more and more people hanker for Green Building. This tendency makes so many scholars and architects study on Green Building technology and Green Building materials. This article mainly discusses three aspects as follow. The first one is the necessity of Green Building technology and design. The second one is the misunderstanding of Green Building’s concept. The third one is the trait of I. M. Pei’s architectural design works.


Abstract. Owing to the recurrent modifications in the lifestyle and demands of humans the regular life of buildings is decreasing whereas the demolition or renovation of the buildings increases. Building materials and their components ingest just about 40 percent of world-wide vigour per annum in their life segments such as fabrication and procurement of building materials, construction and demolition. The development of the construction industry completely relies on the deployable resources. To abate the consumption of construction materials in current years, the construction industry has established an environmental track, which wishes to use naturally available materials. Reviving such technology, further developing this technology green building materials are paramount for constructing green buildings. Such a green-building constructional model does not require energy contributions frequently for production. The advantage of reducing the energy used in manufacturing, increases strength. Green Building material is one which utilizes less water, optimizes energy efficiency, conserves natural resources, generates less waste, produces less carbon dioxide emissions and provides improved space for inhabitants as compared to conventional buildings. It includes environmental, economic, and social benefits as well. This paper aims to provide knowledge about some of the green building materials that help for sustainable living. These elucidations can obligate a significant influence in contemporary construction owed to the escalation in the charges of traditional construction materials.
