Microwave Dielectric Properties of Ca[(Li1/3Nb2/3)0.92Zr0.08]O3−δ Ceramics with Glass Addition

The effects of ZnO-B2O3-Na2O(ZBN) glass on the sinterability and microwave dielectric properties of Ca [(Li1/3Nb2/3)0.92Zr0.08]O3−δ −0.05TiO2 ceramics were investigated . ZBN glass doping can effectively reduce sintering temperatue by 100~150oC. The temperature coefficient of resonator frequency τf increased with an increase of ZBN glass content and sintering temperatue. When ZBN glass of 1.8wt% were added, the optimum microwave dielectric properties: εr=32.8, Qf =13420GHz and τf= − 4.3×10−6/oC were obtained at the sintering temperature of 1000oC.

ZBN glass doping can effectively reduce sintering temperatue by 100~150°C. The temperature coefficient of resonator frequency τf increased with an increase of ZBN glass content and sintering temperatue. When ZBN glass of 3wt% were added, the optimum microwave dielectric properties: εr =28.8,Qf =10960GHz and τf = − 7.5×10−6/°C were obtained at the sintering temperature of 1050°C.

B2O3 doping can effectively reduce sintering temperatue by 150~200°C. The temperature coefficient of resonator frequency τf increased with an increase of B2O3 content and sintering temperatue. When B2O3 of 2wt% were added, the optimum microwave dielectric properties: εr =31.8,Qf =17240GHz and τf = − 5.9×10−6/°C were obtained at the sintering temperature of 950°C.

The effects of CuO and V2O5 addition on sintering behaviors and microwave dielectric properties of 0.7Ca2P2O7-0.3TiO2 ceramics were investigated. With CuO and V2O5 addition, the sintering temperature of 0.7Ca2P2O7-0.3TiO2 can be effectively reduced from 1150 to 950oC. The dielectric constant of the low fired 0.7Ca2P2O7-0.3TiO2 ceramics was not significantly changed while the quality factor was affected by additives. The temperature coefficient of resonant frequency value was increased in negative value with the additive contents. V2O5 and CuO additives effectively improved the densification and dielectric properties of 0.7Ca2P2O7-0.3TiO2 ceramics. The correlation between the phase constituents and the dielectric properties was investigated with additive contents.

The effect of BaCu(B2O5) (BCB) on the sintering temperature and microwave dielectric properties of Ba(Nd0.8Bi0.2)2Ti4O12 (BNBT) ceramics was investigated. The sintering temperature of the BNBT ceramics was significantly reduced from 1300 to 900 °C. Due to adding BCB into Ba(Nd1–xBix)2Ti4O12, the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency can be adjusted to zero with BCB content increasing. Good microwave dielectric properties of quality factor (Q×f) = 2600 GHz, εr = 75, and τf = 5 ppm/°C were obtained for BNBT with 7 wt% BCB sintered at 925 °C for 2 h, which make it a potential candidate for low temperature cofired ceramics applications.

The sintering behaviors and microwave dielectric properties of the Ca0.6La0.8/3TiO3-Li0.5Nd0.5TiO3 (abbreviated CLLNT) ceramics doped by small amounts of ZnO-B2O3-SiO2 glass were investigated in this paper. The adding of ZnO-B2O3-SiO2 glass improved the densifications of the CLLNT ceramics and the sintering temperature of the CLLNT ceramic had been efficiently lowered to 1050°C. Especially, the 8wt% ZnO-B2O3-SiO2 glass doped CLLNT ceramic sintered at 1050°C for 3 h has optimum microwave dielectric properties of Kr=89, Q×f=1445GHz, and TCF=11.4 ppm/°C and it should be a suitable candidate for LTCC applications.

The effect of V2O5 as additives of different content on the densification, microstructure and dielectric properties of Ba(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3 (BMN) was investigated. The sintering temperature of the V2O5-doped BMN samples were lowered down to 1250 oC with 0.5wt% V2O5 compared to pure BMN ceramics where the sintering temperature was 1500 oC at least. The εr and τf was not influenced much, while the Q value was affected by the sintering temperature and the V2O5 additives. The Q value decreased with decrease of the sintering temperature and the V2O5 addition increasing due to the bulk density and the second phase. Good microwave dielectric properties of Q·f=42100GHz, εr =31.7 and temperature coefficient of resonance frequency (τf) =22.7ppm/ oC were obtained with 0.25 wt% V2O5 sintered at 1350 oC for 4h.
