The B2O3-CuO oxide mixture (abbreviated as BC) was selected to lower the sintering temperature of (Ca0.9375Sr0.0625)0.25(Li0.5Sm0.5)0.75TiO3 (abbreviated as CSLST) microwave dielectric ceramics by solid sate reaction technique. The effects of BC doping amounts on the crystal structure, microstructure and microwave dielectric properties of the ceramics were investigated. For the ceramic sample with the composition of CSLST + 5 wt% BC, its sintering temperature was reduced to 1000 °C as compared to 1200 °C for pure CSLST. In addition to the obtained good microwave dielectric properties as follows: εr = 80.4, Q×f = 1380 GHz, τf = -32.89 ×10-6/°C, this ceramic was a desirable high-permittivity microwave dielectric candidate for low-temperature cofired ceramic (LTCC) applications.

The sintering behavior and microwave dielectric properties of the (Ca0.9375Sr0.0625)0.25(Li0.5Sm0.5)0.75TiO3 (CSLST) ceramics doped with different amounts of Li2O-B2O3-SiO2-CaO-Al2O3 (LBSCA) glass were investigated. The sintering temperature of the CSLST ceramics can be effectively reduced over 200oC due to the addition of LBSCA glass. For the 5 wt% LBSCA-doped CSLST ceramics, which are sintered at only 1000 oC for 5 h, show optimum microwave dielectric properties as follows: εr=84.74, Qf=2446 GHz and τf=-12.48 ppm/oC.

Microwave dielectric ceramics of Mg4Nb2O9were prepared by the solid-state method and their microwave dielectric properties and microstructure were investigated in this study. The sintering ability and microwave dielectric properties of Mg4Nb2O9ceramics were studied under various sintering temperatures ranging from 1200°C to 1350°C. As the sintering temperature increased from 1200°C to 1350°C, the density values, the εr values and the Q·ƒ values increased and saturated at 1350°C.The ƒ values were ranged from -48.7 to -57.8 ppm/°C. Due to the increased density and appropriate grain growth the Mg4Nb2O9ceramics sintered at 1350°C had the excellent microwave dielectric properties of εr=12.3, Q·ƒ =108,000GHz and ƒ=-55.3ppm/°C.

Ca1-x(Li1/2Sm1/2)xTiO3 microwave dielectric ceramics in the x range of 0.70 ~ 0.80 were prepared by conventional ceramics fabrication technique. The crystal structure, microstructure and microwave dielectric properties were investigated. The results showed that a single orthorhombic perovskite structure formed within this x range, and the substitution of (Li1/2Sm1/2)2+ ion for Ca2+ ion in A-site has a significant influence on the microwave dielectric properties of the ceramics. With the increase of substitution of (Li1/2Sm1/2)2+ ion with 0.75, the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency τf reaches zero, and it could be attributed that the Sm and Li have a polarizability effect according to its microstructure. The Ca0.25(Li1/2Sm1/2)0.75TiO3 ceramic had a good performance with microwave dielectric properties of τf = 0 ppm/°C, εr = 105.83, and Qf = 3170 GHz.

The crystal structure, phase relation, microstructure and dielectric properties of microwave dielectric ceramics comprised of Zn(Nb1-xTax)2O6 were investigated systematically using XRD, SEM and a network analyzer in this study. XRD results show that the Zn(Nb1-xTax)2O6 ceramics have the orthorhombic for all x values. However, two kinds of solid solutions phase regions based on columbite structure and ZnTa2O6 structure were observed. SEM results show that the growth of grains is restrained with increase of Ta content in Zn(Nb1-xTax)2O6 ceramics. The dielectric properties exhibited a significant dependence on the crystal structure and compositions of the ceramics. The dielectric constant (εr) of Zn(Nb1-xTax)2O6 ceramics increased with increasing Ta content. However, the quality factors (Q×f) of this system show a different trend, and decrease with increasing Ta content. At x=0.65, a zero temperature coefficient of resonant frequency ( τ f) can be realized in Zn(Nb1-xTax)2O6 ceramics system.

BaCu(B2O5) (BCB) powder was prepared using BaO,CuO and B2O3 as the main materials. Microwave dielectric ceramics of tungsten–bronze-type BaSm2Ti4O12 (BST) were prepared by doping BCB as the sintering aid. The amount of BCB was varied from 1.0 to 10.0wt.%. The microstructure and dielectric properties of BST were investigated. The sintering temperature of BST ceramics with 6.0wt.% BCB addition can be effectively reduced to 900 oC, about 450 oC lower than that of pure BST ceramics. Good microwave dielectric properties of εr = 62.38, Q×f = 4573 GHz and τf = -27.65 ppm/ oC were achieved.

The effect of V2O5addition on the microstructures and the microwave dielectric properties of 0.9CaWO4-0.1Mg2SiO4(9CWMS) ceramics prepared by conventional solid-state routes have been investigated. The V2O5were selected as liquid phase sintering aids to lower the sintering temperature of 9CWMS ceramics. A small amount of V2O5(0.25~1 wt%) were used for sintering aid and led to high densification at 1050°C. The dielectric properties of 9CWMS ceramics with V2O5additions are strongly dependent on the densification, the microstructure. As the amount of V2O5additives increased from 0.25 to 1.0 wt%, the dielectric constantsεrdecreased following the trend with density. The quality valuesQdecreased with the increase of V2O5amount for all sintering temperatures. The 0.25 wt% V2O5-doped 0.9CaWO4-0.1Mg2SiO4ceramicssintered at 1080°C for 2 h had the optimum dielectric properties: εr= 5.7;Q×f= 73000 (at 14 GHz).

In this work, the microwave dielectric ceramic (1-m)(Mg0.8Zn0.2)TiO3·m{Ba4Nd28/3Ti18O54·0.18Bi2O3}(m=0.1~0.4)(MZT-BNT) was studied to improve dielectric properties. The results of the dielectric properties, density, XRD and SEM show that the value of m and the sintering temperature affected the structure and properties of the ceramics. MZT-BNT composite system is a two-phase composite system. With the adding of BNT, the dielectric properties of MZT increase significantly. As m value increases, the bulk density and the dielectric constant of the composite system increase, while the quality factor reduces and the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency is close to zero. The dielectric properties of MZT-BNT sintered at 1200 °C (m = 0.3) are εr = 34.03, Qf = 7177 GHz,τf = -3.39 ppm/°C, respectively.
