Research on Simulation Technology for Auto Panel in Drawing Forming Based on Autoform

The features and functions of Autoform software for sheet metal forming simulation were introduced. Taking the auto panel as an example, based on UG and Autoform, the process of CAE simulation analysis on the drawing process was stated in this paper and the simulation results were analyzed. The results of analyses indicated that the crack tendency was in the two salient of auto panel flange in the drawing process. By optimizing and adjusting the parameters of mold, the problem of crack tendency was solved. The optimal stamping process was finally determined based on the results of the simulation. Compared with the traditional stamping technology and die designing, the quality of die designing was improved by adopting CAE technique.

Abstract. Springback is one of the main factors that affects the quality of sheet metal deep drawing. Due to the springback is inevitable, so to explore the springback law becomes an important content in the process of sheet metal forming. In this paper, the ETA/DYNAFORM finite element software was applied to simulate four different length-width radio model of rectangular box. The simulating data shows that the rectangular box with short straight edge rebounded inward when the central of the long straight edge rebounded outward and near the corner part rebounded inward. The study had a very important guiding significance to the stamping process of rectangular box part and mold design.

Deep drawing process is one of the important processes in sheet metal forming. One of the challenge that faces the deep drawing process is selecting the optimal values of process parameters for the deep drawing process. In order to find the optimum values of these parameters, it is necessary to study their influence on the deformation behaviour of the sheet metal. This paper develops a simulation model for deep drawing process based on Simufact sheet metal forming module to study the effect process parameters on the deep-drawing characteristics. The study also obtained the distribution of strain on the drawn product. Three process parameters are considered in this study namely, punch radius, die radius and clearance, the effect of these process parameter on the required force as well as on the quality of the product are investigated.

According to the characteristic which is more and difficult to determine about the automotive panel forming factors, based on the dynamic explicit method, taking the typical automobile front fender for example, do the simulation analysis by using of DYNAFORM. On the premise of taking springback factors into account, analog the best stamping process parameters has been optimized from the analysis results after simulation such as sheet metal forming limited drawing(FLD)and sheet metal thinning drawing.
