According to the periodic structure of the plate-fin heat exchanger, 3D model of the heat exchanger is established which simplifies the computation amount of the numerical simulation on flow field and temperature field. The relationship of fluid velocity, temperature, pressure drop and heat transfer coefficient is analyzed. The flow and heat transfer characteristics can be well predicted. Based on the simulation results, the conclusion makes reference to the design of plate-fin heat exchanger.

The flow and heat transfer characteristics of a micro heat exchanger structure are studied with the method of contrasting experiment and Fluent numerical simulation. Considering the micro heat exchanger to meet the work requirements of conditions, there is some optimization of the structure redundancy. The optimal model of micro heat exchanger is obtained by the numerical simulation and comparative analysis on seven different kinds of micro heat exchangers.

A calculation method for counter-current type coil-wound heat exchanger is presented for heat exchange process. The numerical simulation method is applied to determine the basic physical parameters of wound bundles. By controlling the inlet fluid velocity varying in coil-wound heat exchanger to program and calculate the iterative process. The calculation data is analyzed by comparison of numerical result and the unit three dimensional pipe bundle model was built. Studies show that the introduction of numerical simulation can simplify the pipe winding process and accelerate the calculation and design of overall configuration in coil-wound heat exchanger. This method can be applied to the physical modeling and heat transfer calculation of pipe bundles in coil wound heat exchanger, program to calculate the complex heat transfer changing with velocity and other parameters, and optimize the overall design and calculation of spiral bundles.

In the present work, the phase change energy storage heat exchanger in thermal control system of short-time and periodic working satellite payloads is taken as the research object. Under the condition of constant heated power of the satellite payload, the heat transfer characteristics of phase change energy storage heat exchanger are analyzed by numerical simulation and experimental method. The heat exchanger with fin arrays to enhance heat transfer is filled with tetradecane, whose density varies with temperature. The flow field distribution, the solid-liquid distribution, the temperature distribution, and the phase change process in the plate phase change energy storage heat exchanger unit are analyzed. The flow and heat transfer characteristics of heat exchangers under different fluid-flow rates and temperature were investigated.
