According to the principle of photovoltaic(PV) grid-connected generation, the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) and grid-connected control strategy were presented in this paper. Based on the V-I characteristic curve of photovoltaic array, it built the mathematic model of photovoltaic array and the MPPT algorithm. Through adopting the double-loop feedback control strategy, it achieved the unit power factor control. Lastly, with the example system, it implemented the simulations analysis including the sunlight changing and the temperature changing. The simulation results show that the proposed models and the control strategy are correct.

Photovoltaic Array is nonlinear,and the power generated by it is influenced by sun light,temperature,load and so on In order to improve the system efficiency, firstly, analyzed the physical and mathematic model of photovoltaic array, through the MATLAB Simulink application software simulation tools, set up a computer simulation model of photovoltaic modules.Secondly,this paper gives the improved Perturbation and Observation Method and the Boost circuit used in the controller.after the analysis of some common maximum power point tracking algorithms and DC-DC circuits. Experiments shows that the controller method can rapidly to track the maximum power point,and increase the cell efficiency.

Firstly the research situation for grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) is introduced, then, the engineering mathematical model of PV cells is introduced. The perturbation and observation algorithm is chosen as the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm. The SPWM double-loop control strategy with outer voltage loop and inner current loop is described and a three-phase grid-connected photovoltaic model is established. The simulation results demonstrate the validity and correctness of the simulation model built in this paper.

Solar power is widely available around the globe but efficient transfer of solar power to the load becomes a challenging task. There are various methods in which the power transfer can be done, the following work proposes a method for efficient tracking of solar power.  MPPT [ maximum power point tracking] algorithm applied on three phase voltage source inverter connected to solar PV array with a three phase load. MPPT is applied on inverter rather than conventionally applying MPPT on DC-DC converter. Perturb and Observe method is applied in the MPPT algorithm to find the optimal modulation index for the inverter to transfer maximum power from the panel. Sine pulse width modulation technique is employed for controlling the switching pattern of the inverter. The algorithm is programmed for changing irradiation and temperature condition. The system does not oscillate about the MPP point as the algorithm set the system at MPP and does not vary till a variation in irradiation is sensed.  The proposed system can be installed at all places and will reduce the cost, size and losses compared to conventional system.
