New matter element system AND\OR models of product conceptual design are respectively constructed based on the matter element system theory, which are convenient for computer representation. Rich relevant extension reasoning for product conceptual design is proposed. This paper argues that the matter element system AND\OR net model of production conceptual design not only has the ability to represent the object-oriented knowledge representation method but also has a relatively high ability to represent the process of conceptual design and innovative design. It is expected that the ICAD systems developed based on these models and reasoning can support product conceptual design.

Currently, the mechanical products assistance design systems mainly focus on the detailed design and the function of mathematics models are often been neglected. In order to solve these problems, a application of mechanical products conceptual design is studied using Enhanced Genetic Algorithm (EGA) in this paper. The conceptual design system is established based on Object-oriented Knowledge representation, and at last a design case of conceptual innovation design is given.

A new unifying model is needed for integrating the two systems into a unified whole. After a brief review of data modelling techniques and knowledge representation methodologies, the unifying model will be described and integrated systems will be used to exemplify the usefulness of the unifying model.

Abstract. This part analyzed clamping automobile tires conveyance’s research situation, summarized its failure problem and occurrence cause, and selected the important failure problem by RPN method; and then solved creatively clamping lever roller’s wear, clamping lever’s excessive damage owing to rise and decrease slightly, the automobile conveyance’s excessive damage owing to the car’s rollover and clamping lever’s bearing load unevenly; in the end, proposed the conceptual design of new-style clamping vertically automobile tires conveyance. The conveyance have a simple structure, decrease the clamping lever’s and car tire’s wear, avoid cantilever phenomenon owing to rise and decrease slightly, decrease the clamping lever’s strength and stiffness.

Abstract An expert system is developed for engineering design based on object-oriented knowledge representation concept. The design process is understood as determining design variables and their relationships which compose design model. The design model is represented as a network in the computer system using the object-oriented knowledge representation. The system built with the above concept provides the following abilities: 1) flexible model building and easy modification, 2) effective diagnosis of the design process, 3) supporting method for redesign, 4) a hybrid function with numerical computations and graphics, and 5) applicability for various design problems. Finally, it is applied to the basic design of a ship.
