The temperature field analysis method of steel tubes reinforced columns under fire by finite element analysis software ABAQUS is proposed in this paper. The theoretical method is validated by tests, and the calculated results agree well with those of tests. On the basis of that, the influencing laws of section perimeter; steel reinforcement ratio and sectional core area ratio on temperature field are discussed. It has been found that the effects of section size and sectional core area ratio on temperature field are significant, but steel ratio has very little effect on temperature both of steel tube and of sectional center. These achievements make it possible to study further theoretical study on the fire resistance of steel tube reinforced concrete columns.

With the development of the society, sheet metal filing cabinets have become popular in the office. When filing cabinets store too many paper documents, the interlayer splints often fail because of the failure of the small brackets below. The stress and deformation of brackets were studied by the theoretical method and the finite element method. Results show some small machining shape defects have little influence on the mechanical behavior of brackets. The failure reason of small brackets is not the strength, but the instability.

Use of alternate material is always a continuous development in any industry. Such proposals aim at weight reduction, improve life of the components and reduce the components cost. When it comes to the compressor application, there is always a challenge in replacing such parts with polymers, especially on the canopy parts. This study aims at replacing the material of screw compressor canopy with a suitable material with the target of weight and cost reduction, without compromising the functional requirements. Suitable material for the shroud assembly is chosen using the theoretical method and validated using finite element analysis. Suitable process is chosen for the Proto-type shroud from the proposed alternate material (HDPE) and tested in the real-time environment

Stress concentration factor for a plate with circular free stress hole subjected to a uniform far field tension in single direction was investigated in this study. The stress concentration level along X and Y axis was determined by the elasticity theoretical method. Finite element analysis using LISA free source software was validated by the elasticity theoretical results. It was found that finite element analysis stress concentration factor results shows similar pattern as theoretical but higher near of the hole. Plain strain analysis with Quad 8 element type showed better results compared to plain stress with Quad 4 element type and plain strain with Quad 4 element type.
