The Low Voltage Direct Current (LVDC) system concept has been growing in the recent times due to its characteristics and advantages like renewable energy source compatibility, more straightforward integration with storage utilities through power electronic converters and distributed loads. This paper presents the energy efficiency performances of a proposed LVDC supply concept and others classical PV chains architectures. A PV source was considered in the studied nanogrids. The notion of Relative Saved Energy (RSE) was introduced to compare the studied PV systems energy performances. The obtained results revealed that the employment of the LVDC chain supply concept is very interesting and the use of DC loads as an alternative to AC loads, when a PV power is generated locally, is more efficient. The installed PV power source in the building should be well sized regarding to the consumed power in order to register a high system RSE.

The obtained results revealed that the use of the proposed LVDC chain supply concept increases the nanogrid efficiency. The installed PV power source in the building should be well sized regarding the consumed power in order to register a high system RSE. The efficiency of the new LVDC architecture is 10% higher than the conventional LVDC one.

This paper proposes a local control strategy applied in the soft open point (SOP) to suppress voltage fluctuation when adding a renewable energy source into the system. The mathematic model of the grid connected to SOP is established based on the characteristics of a low-voltage distribution network. Combined with the mathematic model and local voltage information, the local control strategy is proposed to optimize the active and reactive power distribution and consume the minimum apparent power of the converter. The local control strategy can effectively suppress the voltage fluctuation caused by renewable energy access, which was testified by MATLAB/Simulink simulation. In addition, the local control strategy can deduce the communication resource and increase the response speed compared to global optimization. This paper is meaningful for renewable energy source distribution and voltage balance in low-voltage distribution systems.

This paper presents results concerning the vegetable oils as an renewable energy source, with applications for production of electricity or heat. The experiments followed the ignition and the stability of the combustion process of the liquid biofuels and the evaluation of pollutants emissions. The combustion process of liquid fuels additivated with vegetable oils proves their advantage from the point of view of energy efficiency and of the environment protection, the emissions values falling in the allowed interval.
