In today’s world scenario electrical energy is playing a crucial and important role in development of any nation. Large and Enormous consumption of non-renewable resources which made them scarce in quantity and increase in cost due to which it has created demand for renewable energy resources. Due to the current requirements for the expansion of renewable energy as sources of electrical energy, wind energy conversion is getting much interest all over the world. The regular traditional wind turbines have fixed turning speeds, while DFIG enables wind turbine to operate in various speeds. In this paper using MATLAB/SIMULINK we study the performance of DFIG using different conventional intelligent controllers. In this paper we use P, PI, PID PI+FUZZY Logic and PID+FUZZY Logic controllers to study the DFIG. The result demonstrates the effectiveness of controllers in boosting the system performance.

Generally, wind energy sources in Indonesia's coastal areas is one of the potential sources of renewable energy (renewable energy resources) which are abundant, environmentally friendly and renewable. Savonius wind turbines can produce relatively high torque even at low wind speeds. Because it is very well developed to produce electrical energy. To get a large electric power, a large turbine construction is also needed which also certainly requires a large cost. For this reason, it is necessary to develop the dimensions of this wind turbine construction which is known as aspect ratio (Ar). The Ar that has been researched is the blade section, and other values. While the arch depth or the length of the blade arc in U -type is still likely to be researched. Therefore, it is necessary to do research on the U-type blade arc to get greater power than before. In addition to the experimental method with a prototype of the U type Savonius wind turbine with a number of 2 blades, a software-based simulation method will be carried out to analyze the air flow on the wind turbine blade. Parameters varied only with the aspect ratio of the arc length and blade cross section width, other parameters follow the previous research. This analysis will be a comparative data with experimental methods. The expected simulation results obtain the best aspect ratio (Ar) blade in capturing wind energy.

Abstract This paper deals with controlling the output power smoothing of a wind energy conversion systems (WECS) by using permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG). It uses the inertia control of the wind turbine and DC-link voltage control. The PMSG is connected to the grid through a generator-side converter and a grid-side inverter based on AC-DC-AC methods. The generator-side converter is used to control the torque of the PMSG while the grid-side inverter is used to control DC-Link voltage and grid voltage. Fuzzy logic is implemented to determine the torque command by using inertia of wind turbine. The inputs of the fuzzy logic are given by the operating point of the rotational speed of the PMSG and the difference between the wind turbine torque and the generator torque. From the proposed method, the generator torque is smoothed and kinetic energy generated by the inertia of the wind turbine is used to smooth the power fluctuations of PMSG. Also, a stable operation of WECS is achieved during the system fault by using the chopper circuit in the DC-link circuit. The output power smoothing is achieved with stability and low cost. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by the numerical simulations.

The demand for electrical energy that continues to increase along with the advancement of civilization and also the increasing number of people as well as the reduced level of fulfillment and availability of non-renewable energy sources, it is necessary to have renewable energy resources that capable of fulfill these energy demand in a more environmental friendly. One of the natural energies that we can use is wind energy, which is easy to get and lasts continuously. This research examines the comparison of the power generated from the vertical axis wind turbine savonius type and darrieus H type. The wind that use in this research get from from the fan. The test is doing by varying the wind speed by adjusting the fan speed. The fan is directed to the wind turbine to rotate the wind turbine. To measure the wind speed produced by the fan, a digital anemometer is used. The result of this research is the relation data of voltage to rpm and voltage to wind speed of wind turbine.

The work presents the dual-rotor wind energy conversion system (DRWECS) with a direct driven doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG). The system consists of a dual-rotor wind turbine (DRWT) with a DFIG, the grid side converter (GSC), and the machine side converter (MSC). To command the MSC, the direct power command (DPC) based on genetic algorithm (GA) and classical pulse width modulation (PWM) has been applied. To achieve the maximum power from the DRWT, the maximum powe point tracking (MPPT) technique has been used. The performed simulation studies confirmed the high performances of the DPC-GA contro method.

The growing needs for electric power around the world has resulted in fossil fuel reserves to be consumed at a much faster rate. The use of these fossil fuels such as coal, petroleum and natural gas have led to huge consequences on the environment, prompting the need for sustainable energy that meets the ever increasing demands for electrical power. To achieve this, there has been a huge attempt into the utilisation of renewable energy sources for power generation. In this context, wind energy has been identified as a promising, and environmentally friendly renewable energy option. Wind turbine technologies have undergone tremendous improvements in recent years for the generation of electrical power. Wind turbines based on doubly fed induction generators have attracted particular attention because of their advantages such as variable speed, constant frequency operation, reduced flicker, and independent control capabilities for maximum power point tracking, active and reactive powers. For modern power systems, wind farms are now preferably connected directly to the distribution systems because of cost benefits associated with installing wind power in the lower voltage networks. The integration of wind power into the distribution network creates potential technical challenges that need to be investigated and have mitigation measures outlined. Detailed in this study are both numerical and experimental models to investigate these potential challenges. The focus of this research is the analytical and experimental investigations in the integration of electrical power from wind energy into the distribution grid. Firstly, the study undertaken in this project was to carry out an analytical investigation into the integration of wind energy in the distribution network. Firstly, the numerical simulation was implemented in the MATLAB/Simulink software. Secondly, the experimental work, was conducted at the High Voltage Direct Centre at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. The goal of this project was to simulate and conduct experiments to evaluate the level of penetration of wind energy, predict the impact on the network, and propose how these impacts can be mitigated. From the models analysis, the effects of these challenges intensify with the increased integration of wind energy into the distribution network. The control strategies concept of the doubly fed induction generator connected wind turbine was addressed to ascertain the required control over the level of wind power penetration in the distribution network. Based on the investigation outcomes we establish that the impact on the voltage and power from the wind power integration in the power distribution system has a goal to maintain quality and balance between supply and demand.

Due to the lack of fossil fuels, people are paying more and more attention to renewable energy. Wind energy is one of the important renewable energy. Unpredictability and volatility of the wind source make the output power unstable, so we need to control the active Power. This paper uses fuzzy control method, and the simulation results show that fuzzy control method mentioned in this paper is better than the conventional PI control for Wind power, the nonlinear system. Based on the analysis of pitch control theory and control process, we design fuzzy pitch controller and its model. We simulates gust wind speed imitates, wind turbine control and verifies the effects of the blur pitch control in a constant speed and constant frequency wind power generation system. According to the results of the simulation, we know the pitch controller of fuzzy logic has a better effect on the active control of the generator of the wind power generation system.
