ABSTRACT Introduction Every patient needs a comprehensive treatment planning. Dentists must consider the advantages and disadvantages of the available implant prosthetic options and match them to patient's expectations. Hybrid denture prosthesis is one, i.e., fabricated and retained by screw threaded into implant abutments, most of the time on four implants. Sometimes due to failure of an implant, the prosthesis needs to be replaced with a newer casting to accommodate the existing implants. Clinical consideration This article presents a novel technique, wherein the existing framework of the fixed prosthesis can be used to convert the fixed prosthesis to removable prosthesis on the existing implants, without recasting. Clinical significance The implant is economical and easily convertible from a fixed-fixed to a fixed-removable prosthesis. Hence, there is reduced morbidity, reduced cost, and an increased psychological comfort for the patient. How to cite this article Shetty PP, Gangaiah M, Chowdhary R. The premise of this article is that learning procedures used to train artificial neural networks are inherently statistical techniques. It follows that statistical theory can provide considerable insight into the properties, advantages, and disadvantages of different network learning methods. We review concepts and analytical results from the literatures of mathematical statistics, econometrics, systems identification, and optimization theory relevant to the analysis of learning in artificial neural networks. Because of the considerable variety of available learning procedures and necessary limitations of space, we cannot provide a comprehensive treatment. Our focus is primarily on learning procedures for feedforward networks. However, many of the concepts and issues arising in this framework are also quite broadly relevant to other network learning paradigms. In addition to providing useful insights, the material reviewed here suggests some potentially useful new training methods for artificial neural networks.

Ameloblastoma is a rare, benign tumor of odontogenic epithelium  that was recognized in 1827 by Cusack and renamed ameloblastoma in 1930 by Ivey and Churchill. Ameloblastomas can be found both in the maxilla and mandible with a greater predilection of about 80% in the mandible with the posterior ramus area being the most frequent site. While chemotherapy, radiation therapy, curettage and liquid nitrogen have been effective in some cases of ameloblastoma, surgical resection  remains the most definitive treatment for this condition. Rehabilitation of residual mandibular defect post resection is a challenge due to long span compromised ridge condition and the absence of dentition. In such scenario, a fixed-removable prosthesis allows rapid return to excellent function by providing favorable biomechanical stress distribution along with restoration of esthetics, phonetics and ease of postoperative care and maintenance.This paper presents successful Prosthodontic rehabilitation of a patient with a large residual mandibular defect secondary to surgical resection for ameloblastoma using fixed-removable hybrid prosthesis.

Dental implants, or completely said as dental implant bodies, function as analogues of tooth roots, achieving aunion directly with jawbone following their insertion into a prepared socket in the bone. Implant system have threebasic components, namely the dental implant body that is lying in the jawbone, abutment that lies on the jawboneand the prosthesis. Dental implants may stabilize a removable prosthesis, complete or partial overdentures, and orsupport and stabilize a fixed prosthesis. In designing implant-supported removable prostheses, there are three formsof anchorage frequently used, namely bar/sleeve (clip) joints which links two or more implants, ball/cap anchoragesapplied individually to two or more isolated implants, and magnets/magnetic keepers. Implant-supported fixedprosthesis is either screwed to or cemented on to the abutment.

The importance of an accurately fitting fixed prosthesis or a removable prosthesis is essential for the success of the restoration. Ill-fitting prosthesis may cause mechanical failures of the prosthesis, implant systems, or biologic complications of the surrounding tissue. There are several causes related to improper seating of the prosthesis. Some of which can be corrected and the others need to be repeated. Hence the clinician must carefully evaluate the adaptation of the prosthesis using the clinical techniques and combination of the available materials and evaluation methods to optimize the fit of prosthesis. This article reviews the various clinical methods that have been suggested for evaluating the fit of the fixed and removable prosthesis.

The formulation and implementation of the Love's condition constraint for the source reconstruction method (SRM) in near-field antenna measurements is analyzed in the context of inverse problems. To this end, the SRM is first analyzed to identify the non-unique or non-radiating current sources which may be present. Next, the advantages and disadvantages of general regularization techniques, which may address the non-radiating currents, are presented which serve to motivate the use of the Love's condition constraint. The main methods of formulating the constraint are then presented, one of which is a novel technique developed for this paper. Following this, the formulation methods are analyzed in order to predict the similarities and differences of the methods in the context of addressing the non-radiating currents of the SRM. This analysis is reinforced by simulated antenna measurements. In particular, the novel formulation method is demonstrated to provide greater reconstruction accuracy (in the examples considered), at the cost of computational complexity.

Through retrospective analysis of the literature on the cell repair of spinal cord injury worldwide, it is found that the mechanism of cell transplantation repairing spinal cord injury is mainly to replace damaged neurons, protect host neurons, prevent apoptosis, promote axonal regeneration and synapse formation, promote myelination, and secrete trophic factors or growth factors to improve microenvironment. A variety of cells are used to repair spinal cord injury. Stem cells include multipotent stem cells, embryonic stem cells, and induced pluripotent stem cells. The multipotent stem cells are mainly various types of mesenchymal stem cells and neural stem cells. Non-stem cells include olfactory ensheathing cells and Schwann cells. Transplantation of inhibitory interneurons to alleviate neuropathic pain in patients is receiving widespread attention. Different types of cell transplantation have their own advantages and disadvantages, and multiple cell transplantation may be more helpful to the patient’s functional recovery. These cells have certain effects on the recovery of neurological function and the improvement of complications, but further exploration is needed in clinical application. The application of a variety of cell transplantation, gene technology, bioengineering and other technologies has made the prospect of cell transplantation more extensive. There is a need to find a safe and effective comprehensive treatment to maximize and restore the patient’s performance.
