Understanding the function of microbial proteins is essential to reveal the clinical potential of the microbiome. The application of high-throughput sequencing technologies allows for fast and increasingly cheaper acquisition of data from microbial communities. However, many of the inferred protein sequences are novel and not catalogued, hence the possibility of predicting their function through conventional homology-based approaches is limited. Here, we leverage a deep-learning-based representation of proteins to assess its utility in alignment-free analysis of microbial proteins. We trained a language model on the Unified Human Gastrointestinal Protein catalogue and validated the resulting protein representation on the bacterial part of the SwissProt database. Finally, we present a use case on proteins involved in SCFA metabolism. Results indicate that our model (ArdiMiPE) manages to accurately represent features related to protein structure and function, allowing for alignment-free protein analyses. Technologies such as ArdiMiPE that contextualize metagenomic data are a promising direction to deeply understand the microbiome.

Recently, the Rational Unified Process (RUP) has been published as the second part of Rational’s Unified Method project. The RUP is advertised as an “iterative and incremental, use case-driven, architecture-centric” process model and aims to support system designers, builders and managers working with the Unified Modeling Language (UML) by a procedural guideline. In this chapter, a brief review and a critical analysis of the RUP is attempted. Its general aim and its contribution towards more harmonisation in the software process field are acknowledged. However, its ability to reduce the complexity of software development and to clarify its interlaced structure and terminology is doubted. Major problems may result from concepts not clearly specified like workflow or architecture. In particular, RUP core concepts like phase, iteration, workflow and milestone are debated. It is argued that RUP phases and milestones do not support the requirements of modern object-oriented (and, in particular, component-based) software projects. Iteration cycles should be based on software building blocks rather than on phases and activities. As one possible alternative to the RUP, a component-based (and truly architecture-centric) process model is sketched, and a multi-variant approach to software process modelling is recommended.

Tempat pelayanan kesehatan bertujuan untuk memberikan pelayanan kesehatan kepada masyarakat melalui lembaga institusi pelayanan kesehatan. Masyarakat di Kota Palembang mendapatkan informasi tempat pelayanan kesehatan melalui informasi masyarakat sekitar, lembaga pelayanan kesehatan dan beberapa situs internet yang ditampilkan secara terpisah. Maka sebuah website geografis diperlukan untuk menampilkan tata letak lokasi pelayanan kesehatan dan informasi lengkap tentang pelayanan kesehatan di Kota Palembang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat sebuah pemodelan website geografis tempat pelayanan kesehatan di Kota Palembang. Pemodelan yang digunakan berbasis object oriented dengan menerapkan use case diagram dan activity diagram.
