A new species of the genus Pseudechiniscus, Pseudechiniscus papillosus sp. nov., is described and figured in this paper. This new species differs from the other species of the genus Pseudechiniscus by plate sculpture that consists of many papillae-like projections. Four new records of Echiniscus species and one new record of a Pseudechiniscus species are also reported in this article: Echiniscus cheonyoungi Moon & Kim, E. melanophthalmus Bartoš, E. nepalensis Dastych, E. trisetosus Cuénot and Pseudechiniscus asper Abe Utsugi & Takeda.

Altajosoma corniferum sp. n. is described from the Republic of Altai, Siberia, Russia. The new species differs from congeners mainly by the large, horn-shaped lateral sheath processes of the posterior gonopod colpocoxites. New faunistic records for Altai are given for other species of the family Diplomaragnidae. All currently known members of Diplomaragnidae from Altai are keyed, including the new species.

An annotated list of dolichopodid species recorded from Kurile Archipelago (Russia) is given for the first time. Sciapus basarukini sp. n. from Kunashir Island is described and illustrated. New records for 26 species, including 8 species new for the Kurile Islands, are presented. Long-legged flies are recorded for the first time from the Anuchina, Tanfilyeva, Polonskogo, Urup, Chirpoy, Brat-Chirpoyev, Simushir, Ushishir, Matua, Raikoke, Paramushir, Kharimkotan, Makanrushi, Atlasov, and Onekotan islands. Two species are excluded from the fauna of Kurils. In total, 54 species are recorded from the Kurile Archipelago that appa¬rently makes up 50–60% of the actual dolichopodid fauna in this region. The trends discovered on the Kurile Islands for plant species, i.e. the landscape diversity and the number of plant species increase from small to large islands, and decrease from southern islands northward, are generally supported by the case of flies of the family Dolichopodidae.

Two species of the mite family Celaenopsidae, Pleuronectocelaeno barbara Athias-Henriot, 1959 and Schizocyrtillus fuzhouensis sp. nov., were recorded in China. Specimens were collected in bark and rotten wood on Pinus massoniana Lamb. in Sanming city and Fuzhou city, respectively. Information on current distribution, host association and morphological diagnostics of these two mites is provided.

A new species of the genus Charinus—C. vulgaris— is described from Porto Velho, Rondônia. This is the first record of the family Charinidae from the Brazilian Amazonia and of a synanthropic species in South America. Additionally, two new records of the genus for Brazil are made and a key to the Brazilian species of the genus is given.

The first part of this paper provides a historical review of the classification of the family Tettigometridae, including the description of a new tribe, Plesiometrini trib. nov. to accommodate three Afrotropical genera of the subfamily Tettigometrinae. The name Nototettigometra Muir 1924, is proposed to replace Hilda Kirkaldy 1900, homonym of Hilda Hörnes & Auinger 1884, and corresponding new combinations are given, including Nototettigometrinae nom. subst. to replace Hildinae Fennah 1952. An identification key to suprageneric taxa of Tettigometridae including both male and female characters is provided. In the second part, 18 tettigometrid species are recorded from Iran. A new species, Tettigometra (Tettigometra) parihana sp. nov. is described. Tettigometra (Metroplaca) longicornis and Tettigometra (Tettigometra) impressifrons are reported as new records for the Iranian fauna. An identification key and distribution maps are provided for the Iran fauna.

Macrochemical reactions are reported on 15 species of Suillus, 3 of Fuscoboletinus, 2 of Gyroporus, and 1 species each of Boletellus, Boletinellus, Pulveroboletus, and Strobilomyces, together with a number of tests on species of Tylopilus and Boletus not available for an earlier paper. Three species of Suillus and three Boletus species are new records for Nova Scotia, and two of these are new for Canada. Also included are tests for a new species of Boletus to be described in another paper.Similarities in the macrochemical tests are used to divide 13 of the species of genus Suillus into two groups. Suillus luteus was selected as the type for group 1 and S. americanus for group 2. Two species did not belong to either group and were distinctly different from each other. Two species of Fuscoboletinus could be placed with group 2, but the third, F. paluster, differed widely. Boletus piperatus, which has been placed in Suillus by some authors, does not appear to be related on the strength of these tests. No attempt was made to group other species in Boletus or Tylopilus.

This paper reports the mites of the family Phytoseiidae known from Argentina. It is based mostly on a survey conducted in the northern region of that country as well as on published information. Twenty-two species were found in that survey, ten of which are new records from that country, including a new species here described as Neoseiulus argentinus Guanilo & Moraes n. sp.. Measurements of all species collected and a taxonomic key to separate the species known to date from Argentina are provided. All together 47 species are reported from Argentina.
