The ability to think mathematically includes many mental activities which involve the workings of the brain. To describe students’ mathematical thinking ability, one of the efforts that can be done is to apply the mathematical problem-based learning model. It involves students to solve a problem through scientific method stages, so that students can learn the knowledge related to the problem and also have the ability to solve the problem. This study aims to describe students’ mathematical thinking ability through Mathematical Problem-Based Learning Model. This type of research is qualitative. The subjects of the study were senior high school students in the city of Parepare. The data collections were conducted by observing the learning process in class and giving the assignment/test to the students. The collected data were then analyzed qualitatively. Based on the results of research and discussion it is concluded that the students ability to think have sequences in the activities of mathematical thinking with the application of mathematical problems-based learning model. Therefore, the students’ mathematical thinking ability is described as follows: (1) identification stage of the problem, (2) the grouping stages, and (3) drawing conclusions.

This study purpose to determine the ability of students to use Polya’s step in solving mathematical problems through Problem Based Learning. This study used a quantitative approach with a total sample, as many as 26 students of 7th grade of Junior High School 2 Kusan Hulu student. Problem Based Learning activities held in four meetings and two tests. The test results were analyzed based on the Polya’s problem solving steps, calculated with the percentage in each step. The results showed that the ability of junior high school students to use Polya’s steps in solving mathematical problem through Problem Based Learning was: 1) ability to understand problems at 83.80%, 2) ability to plan problem solving at 71.42%, and 3) ability to do counting at 75.61%.

The study was report the findings of an only post-test control group research design and aims to analyze the influence of problem-based learning approach, school level, and students' prior mathematical ability to student's mathematics critical thinking ability. The research subjects were 140 grade ten senior high school students coming from excellent and moderate school level. The research instruments a set of mathematical critical thinking ability test, and the data were analyzed by using two ways ANOVA and t-test. The research found that the problem-based learning approach has significant impact to the ability of students' mathematics critical thinking in terms of school level and students' prior mathematical abilities. Furthermore. This research also found that there is no interaction between learning approach and school level, and learning approach and students' prior mathematics ability to students' mathematics critical thinking ability. Keywords: problem-based learning, mathematical critical thinking ability

Problem-based learning model is a learning model emphasizes on solving the problem as a mean to know the students’ thinking skills and bring learning process more meaningful. But there are some problems in the learning that many teachers still relied their learning practices conventionally in which make students often bored and uncomfortable within the classroom. The purpose of this research is revealing the development of learning practices using problem-based learning model of junior high school students in Indonesia in 2010-2019. This research used qualitative approach and the result shown that problem-based learning model has been used widely and has attracted many first high school students to improve their competencies. Therefore, teachers need to create such innovations based on problem-based learning.

Problem based learning is learning model suitable for 21st Century’s educational purpose. Concepts of learning material can be built using concept mapping. The objective of this research is to analyse the effectiveness of problem based learning model aided with concept mapping on the analysis of Senior High School students' ability (differentiating, organizing, and attributing aspect) in learning material of Immune System. The subject of this research is eleven grade students of SMA Negeri 12 Semarang and SMA Kesatrian 1 Semarang, each of these senior high schools provided two experimental classes. The design of this research is pre-experimental, with one group pretest-posttest design. The method of gathering data was used in this research is test and observation. Instruments that were analyzed in this research are multiple choice, students discussion’s worksheet, product of learning outcomes, and learning implementation. The snalysis ability of students from SMA Negeri 12 Semarang showed average of 80% with classical content mastering for XI-MIPA 4 and XI-MIPA 5 are 84,2% and  76,4% respectively. Average of N-gain is 0,4706 which categorized in medium criteria. The analysis ability of students from SMA Kesatrian 1 Semarang showed average of 73% with classical content mastering for XI-MIPA 1 and XI-MIPA 2 are 76,4% and  81% respectively. Average of N-gain is 0,4426 which categorized in medium criteria. Based on the research result can be drawn a conclusion that implementation of problem based learning aided with concept mapping is effective for increasing students’ analysis ability in SMA Negeri 12 Semarang and SMA Kesatrian 1 Semarang.

This research aimed  to analyze student worksheet development based on Problem Based Learning model in topic of Probability for Senior High School students of grade X. The instruments which were used in this research were the validation sheet of student worksheet for math lecturer and teacher in order to fulfill the validity aspect, the student scoring sheet in order to fulfill the applicability aspect, and critical mathematic thinking ability test in order to fulfill the effectiveness aspect. The result of the research showed that the student worksheet which was based on Problem Based Learning model had fulfilled the requirements and appropriateness standard based on content, design, and language expert. The data analysis of t-test towards of critical thinking ability showed that the critical thinking ability of students with Problem Based Learning model worksheet was higher than the critical thinking ability of students without Problem Based Learning model worksheet.
