Rotary excavators as the basic machines at the open pits of lignite operate in very difficult working conditions, where they are constantly expected to be highly productive, reliable, available and safe as the production carriers. Determining the availability as well as the duration and number of failures using the analytical methods allows to analyze the key influencing factors on their occurrence and values of these parameters and to determine the essential elements of system maintenance and management in order to optimize them.

Abstract Both one- and multi-criteria tasks can be distinguished depending on the number of criteria being considered. Illustrated with an example of seven selected underground workplaces, each described by the set of 10 elements, this article discusses the possibilities to use the development index mi for determination of the workplaces which, in the light of the multi-criteria evaluation, are characterised by the worst and most favourable working conditions.

Abstract Simple physical models are developed for the nominal contact stresses in dovetail attachments. These nominal stresses include the pressure, the shear traction, and the bending stress in the contact region, both during loading up and unloading. The models furnish closed-form expressions for these stresses. For a specific dovetail attachment, model values are compared with verified finite element values. As a result of the simplifications introduced to make the models tractable, model values only approximately equal finite element values. Nonetheless, the models capture the essential elements of the response of nominal stresses in dovetail attachments.

It is well known that some solutions for a sinusoidally driven oscillator with linear stiffness and impacts at rigid stops modelled with a coefficient of restitution impact law can be located analytically. Recently, new co-dimension one bifurcations called grazing bifurcations have been found in such systems. Here we present analytical results which show how the type of grazing bifurcation changes with parameter, and that when the type of grazing bifurcation changes a codimension two bifurcation occurs. The simplest grazing bifurcations involve orbits of period-1, but we show that the same analytical methods can be used to locate some subharmonics and their bifurcations.

This article aims to investigate and identify gaps in the manufacturing system of world-class (WCM), In the auto industry and to establish the necessary adjustments to the systems in the organization using the critical performance analysis (IPA). This study presents a blend of the theoretical and practical framework as stated in the literature study and integrates the experts' viewpoints. The critical characteristics of Iran Khodro Company's world-class production system were defined. Then the essential elements for improving the company's world-class production system were defined and addressed utilizing critical performance analysis (IPA). Performance Analysis was used to acquire the gap analysis findings and identify areas for improvement (Importance performance analysis). Using this model system in world-class manufacturing in the Iran Khodro Company, assist the supreme managers and supervisors in identifying areas in the company that require improvement, and after implementing improvement measures in these areas, ensure the success of this system's establishment and ability to make the best decisions in the area of world-class production. Without a doubt, this article will be one of the most effective techniques for determining and analyzing organizational improvements and the development and implementation of WCM. For the experts, there will be a plethora of options

Abstract In this paper a new method of modeling variable slope angles has been presented based on the spline interpolation method. Slope angle modeling and defining precedency of the blocks are the vital parts of almost any open pit optimization algorithm. Traditionally heuristic patterns such as 1:5 or 1:9 have been used to generate slope angles. Cone template based models were later employed in developing variable slope angles. They normally use a linear interpolation process for determination of slope angles between the given directions which leads to sharp and non-realistic pits. The other elliptical alternatives suffer from having limitations in defining slope angles in non-geographical directions. The method is capable to consider any number of slope angles in any desired direction as well as creating quite accurate and realistic pit shapes. Three major types of the spline interpolation including cubic, quadratic and cardinal are tested, however, the cubic form is preferred due to more realistic outcomes. Main steps of the method are described through a numerical case study.

In the last decade, the computing power of computers has significantly increased, which enabled very detailed and accurate numerical static non-linear analyses of reinforced concrete structures to be carried out using sophisticated commercial software. However, higher risk of errors, both in the calculation inputs and algorithm, is linked with the increased detail and accuracy of numerical modelling. For this reason, it is convenient to verify the results provided by sophisticated software using simplified analytical approaches. In order to provide a tool for quick and easy verification of results provided by sophisticated software, a novel web-based application employing simplified analytical methods has been developed by the authors of this paper. This web-based application is capable of quick and easy calculations of bending moments in reinforced concrete two-way slabs. For the calculation of bending moments, the Marcus Method is employed. This method introduces a correction coefficient to the Rankine-Grashoff Theory of Equal Deflections in order to account for the torsional restraints at the corners of the slab. These analytical methods are algorithmized and implemented using the JavaScript programming language. A graphical user interface for the input of data and for the interpretation of results is created using the HTML markup language. The novel web-based application is freely available and works on all common devices and operating systems. From the presented results, it is clear that the novel web-based application is quick, easily available, user-friendly, and intuitive. The web-based application can be used for the verification of the calculated bending moments during the design of a reinforced concrete two-way slab.
