Throughout his life, Christopher Isherwood explored his sense of himself through a range of different genres of writing: autobiography, letters and journals, and fiction. The polysemic image of the mirror plays a major role in the structuring of his novels and other writings. Through the figure of the mirror, the writer signals many nearly imperceptible yet significant changes over time. This article explores this image in a range of Isherwood’s writings, and argues that, through its deployment, the artist very often questions himself about the dichotomy between appearance and reality. The presence of the mirror in the early writings assumes modalities which are distinct from those belonging to the conversion period to Vedanta, the Hindu-oriented philosophy and religion.

This research aims to analyze the effect of working capital management on profitability ofbasic industry and chemicals that listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) within 2011-2014. Indicator of working capital management used in this research are cash conversioncycle (CCC), receivable conversion period (RCP), inventory conversion period (ICP),payable deferral period (PDP), and current ratio (CR). On the other hand, indicator ofprofitability used in this research is net profit margin (NPM).The sample data used in this research took from financial statement that have beenaudited and published in IDX. According to sampling technique used in this research, which is purposive sampling, there’re 25 companies that fit to certain criteria. Method ofdata analysis used in this research is Multiple Regression Analysis, which previouslyperformed classical assumption test. Hypothesis test is using F-statistic test, t-statistictest, and determination of coefficients with significance level of 5%.The result of this research indicates independent variables simultaneously (F-statistictest) effect on profitability (NPM) with significance level 0,000. On the other hand, partially (t-statistic test) indicates CCC has negative and significant effect onprofitability, PDP and CR have positive and significant effect on profitability.Meanwhile, RCP and ICP has positive and not significant effect on profitability. Adjusted’s score is 0,454 which means that the ability of independent variables can explainprofitability with 45,4%, while the rest is explain by other factors.

This study investigated the sero-conversion period in which dogs from endemic areas test positive for visceral leishmaniasis (VL) as well as the early post-infection period in which renal alterations are observed. Dogs that were initially negative for Canine Visceral Leishmaniasis (CVL) were clinically evaluated every three months by serological, parasitological and biochemical tests until sero-conversion was confirmed, and six months later a subsequent evaluation was performed. Samples of kidney tissues were processed and stained with Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E), Periodic Acid Schiff (PAS) and Masson’s trichrome stain and lesions were classified based on the WHO criteria. Of the 40 dogs that initially tested negative for VL, 25 (62.5%) exhibited positive serological tests during the study period. Of these 25 dogs, 15 (60%) tested positive within three months, five (20%) tested positive within six months and five (20%) tested positive within nine months. The dogs exhibited antibody titers between 1:40 and 1:80 and 72% of the dogs exhibited clinical symptoms. The Leishmania antigen was present in the kidneys of recently infected dogs. We found higher levels of total protein and globulin as well as lower levels of albumin in the infected dogs when compared to the control dogs. Additionally, infected dogs presented levels of urea and creatinine that were higher than those of the uninfected dogs. Glomerulonephritis was detected in some of the dogs examined in this study. These data suggest that in Teresina, the sero-conversion for VL occurs quickly and showed that the infected dogs presented abnormal serum proteins, as well as structural and functional alterations in the kidneys during the early post-infection period.
