In the present paper, the authors develop a methodology for stability monitoring of the hydrotechnicaldefensive embankment that is exposed to heavy frequent traffic. The proposed methodology envisages several phases of observation, work and monitoring: (1) macroscopic observations, (2) geophysicalgeoelectric tests, (3) group of exploration works, (4) model formation, (5) establishment of a monitoring system, (6) acquisition data processing and modeling. Four of the six proposed phases are illustrated by the example of the left-bank Danube embankment used by the Kovin coal mine for the needs of coal truck haulage. The results of the performed research indicate that there are no deformations that endanger the defensive function of the embankment. In order to ensure safe coal truck haulage and preserve the function of the embankment, it is proposed to establish a system for geophysical, hydrogeological and geotechnical monitoring, to form a model for simulating the behavior of the embankment for different hydrometeorological conditions (consequently, for different consistency states and material compaction), and for different load conditions.

Aimed at the frequency gas accident of coal mine, we designed a coal mine gas monitoring system based on Arduino microcontroller. The MQ-4 gas sensor was used to collect gas concentration, wireless ZigBee was used to transfer data of gas concentration to PC. The system can display gas concentration real-timely by LCD and use SD card to store the data. The system will send out sound and light alarm when the gas concentration overruns. Industrial tests have been carried out in Wuyang coal mine. Results show that gas monitoring system can well adapt to environment of underground coal mine and the measurement is accurate. The system is real-time monitoring and early warning. It has the characteristics of low power consumption, low cost, wireless, good market prospect.

In the safety production of coal mine, monitoring exact and real-time mine parameter is very important and key problem. The monitoring system of mine environment with wireless is designed, which is based on the structure of wireless sensor network (WSN).The system includes sensor node, Sink node and monitoring center. In the paper, the function structure and hardware design of sensor are introduced for the monitoring of temperature, humidity and gas concentration, and the function structure and hardware design of sink node is designed. The system has low power, rapid real-timing, stable running. Etc. This can satisfy with the requirement of WSN and suit the monitoring of bad environments. It will have wide application prospect.

Considering the insufficient ability of data processing existed in configuration software, a scheme integrated both advantages of advanced programming language and configuration software is provided. In this scheme real-time data acquisition and complex processing are achieved by advanced programming language, the human-computer interface and other functions of the monitoring system are achieved by configuration software. Configuration software achieves the purpose of expanding data processing ability by data communications between advanced programming language and configuration software based on OLE technology. The practical application result indicates that the data processing ability of configuration software can be effectively expanded based on OLE technology, which has well stability and real-time, and can play significant performance in complex parameters and data processing related monitoring system.

Wireless sensor networks have been shown to be a cost-effective monitoring tool for many applications on civil structures. Strain cycle monitoring for fatigue life assessment of railway bridges, however, is still a challenge since it is data intensive and requires a reliable operation for several weeks or months. In addition, sensing with electrical resistance strain gauges is expensive in terms of energy consumption. The induced reduction of battery lifetime of sensor nodes increases the maintenance costs and reduces the competitiveness of wireless sensor networks. To overcome this drawback, a signal conditioning hardware was designed that is able to significantly reduce the energy consumption. Furthermore, the communication overhead is reduced to a sustainable level by using an embedded data processing algorithm that extracts the strain cycles from the raw data. Finally, a simple software triggering mechanism that identifies events enabled the discrimination of useful measurements from idle data, thus increasing the efficiency of data processing. The wireless monitoring system was tested on a railway bridge for two weeks. The monitoring system demonstrated a good reliability and provided high quality data.

Coal mine is important and basic industries in the country, and it is very important to establish a sound, reliable coal mine safety monitoring system for the safety production of coal mine. The demand analysis was made for the development of coal mine safety monitoring system. It contains to build up the layout model of the standard coal mine underground production environment and set all kinds of underground transducers especially methane transducer. On this basis, the general design scheme of coal mine safety monitoring system was determined. Demand analysis and scheme design provided for coal mine safety monitoring system can meet the needs of practical application and establish the foundation for the subsequent system development.
