AbstractCircumcision is one of the most common pediatric surgical procedures performed all over the world and especially in Arab and Islamic countries. Many complications have been documented following this maneuver. We report on a rare case of intraperitoneal bladder rupture in a 7-day-old baby who was circumcised on his second day using the guillotine method. He presented to us with gangrene of the tip of the penis and a failure to void urine associated with progressive abdominal distension. Ultrasound revealed severe ascites. Aspiration and analysis confirmed the fluid to be urine. Ascending cystourethrogram was performed revealing a perforation of the posterior bladder wall near the trigone. Exploration was performed and repair done. Postoperative course was uneventful.

AbstractWe report a rare case of spontaneous intraperitoneal bladder rupture following normal vaginal delivery without concomitant uterine rupture. Key diagnostic clinical features were acute renal failure, new-onset ascites and bowel ileus with urosepsis. Laparotomy and bladder repair with omentum patch were performed with no adverse outcome reported.

ABSTRACT Introduction Risk of uterine rupture in obstructed labor in grand multipara in developing countries is well documented; however, rupture of vagina involving bladder is uncommon. Below is described a rare case of 30-year-old grand multipara who suffered vaginal rupture associated with bladder rupture rather than uterine rupture during second stage of labor. This case is an important reminder to obstetricians that vaginal rupture can also occur in unscarred uterus without uterine involvement. Primary bone lymphoma (PBL) is a rare, malignant, neoplastic disorder of the skeleton that accounts for less than 5% of all primary bone tumours. We present an extremely rare case of PBL mimicking a pelvic abscess around the sacroiliac joint, which has never been reported in the medical literature, and discuss learning points highlighted from this case.

The authors report a rare case of spontaneous bladder rupture in a 13-year-old girl who underwent functional closure for bladder extrophy. Although bladder rupture can happen in operations for bladder augmentation, it is very rare in the above cases. The pathogenesis of this complication due to anatomical and functional factors is analysed, emphasising the need for careful long-term urologic follow-up.

Urinary ascites in a newborn infant is unusual and most commonly indicates a disruption to the integrity of urinary tract, the most common cause being posterior urethral valve. The report describes a case of urinary ascites, probably calyx or bladder rupture due to underlying posterior urethral valve. The patient presented as an emergency and was treated with ventilator support and subsequent drainage of urine.
