Aiming at soft soil foundation, this paper simulates the process of dynamic compaction on soft soil foundation by ABAQUS, and analyzes soil stress and displacement under the effect of same tamping energy on different drop height, ram. The law of consolidation on the soil foundation has been forecasted more accurately, which is more valuable for the similar project on dynamic compaction on soft soil foundation.

To find the influence of the layout of punning position in dynamic compaction for loess, four model tests are performed, which equal in the tamping energy but differ in the layout of punning position. In model tests the settlement, the dry density and the shear strength parameters of the soil samples are measured and analysis of the effects of different test plans is made. The test results manifested that the decrease of the distance between the pounding points might result in an increment of the settlement, the dry density and the cohesive strength but not the angle of internal friction. And from the comparison of the test results, a more efficient layout of punning position is given.

Method of piles thrusted-expanded with column-hammer is a ground treatment method which has Chinese characteristics. In order to study the consolidating mechanism of the ground treatment method, indoor model tests of thrusting hole and tamping pile are carried on and the consolidating mechanism is studied. At the same time, the influence factors of thrusting hole and tamping pile, such as the different tamping energy and diameter of column-hammer, are analyzed. The analysis results indicate that thrusting hole by column-hammer has the effect of lateral compacting and strongly tamping at the bottom of hole. In the tamping piles by column-hammer, the effect of expanding the bottom of pile and secondary compaction are very great. The conclusions will provide the technology basis for the optimizing the design of the ground treatment method.
