AbstractRan and Reurings (Proc Am Math Soc 132(5):1435–1443, 2003) extended the Banach contraction principle to the setting of partially ordered metric spaces and recently Proinov (J Fixed Point Theory Appl 22:21, 2020) extended and unified many earlier fixed point theorems. In this paper we will present analogous results for the significantly wider class of mappings on preordered metric spaces. We give non-trivial examples of Kannan-type mappings.

Abstract Objectives We investigated the existence and uniqueness of a fixed point for the mapping satisfying generalized rational type contraction conditions in metric space endowed with partial order. Suitable examples are presented to justify the results obtained. Result Some new fixed point results have been obtained for a mapping fulfilling generalized contractions. The uniqueness of the fixed point is also the part of the study based on an ordered relation. One example is given for a result which is not valid in the usual metric space.

Motivated by the ideas of F -weak contractions and F , R g -contractions, the notion of F w , R g -contractions is introduced and studied in the present paper. The idea is to establish some interesting results for the existence and uniqueness of a coincidence point for these contractions. Further, using an additional condition of weakly compatible mappings, a common fixed-point theorem and a fixed-point result are proved for F w , R g -contractions in metric spaces equipped with a transitive binary relation. The results are elaborated by illustrative examples. Some consequences of these results are also deduced in ordered metric spaces and metric spaces endowed with graph. Finally, as an application, the existence of the solution of certain Voltera type integral equations is investigated.

In this paper, we prove some new fixed point theorems involving set-valued F-contractions in the setting of quasi-ordered metric spaces. Our results are significant since we present Banach contraction principle in a different manner from that which is known in the present literature. Some examples and an application to existence of solution of Volterra-type integral equation are given to support the obtained results
