The selectional flexibility of some attitude verbs (e.g. know, realize, report) between declarative and interrogative complements has been the subject of much recent work in formal semantics. However, little attention has been paid to verbs (e.g. see, remember, observe) that embed an even wider variety of complements (incl. subject-controlled gerundive small clauses and concrete object-denoting DPs). Since the familiar types of some of these complements resist an embedding in the type for questions [= sets of propositions], these verbs challenge Theiler, Roelofsen & Aloni’s (2018) uniform interpretation strategy for the complements of responsive verbs. My paper answers this challenge by uniformly interpreting the different complements of selectionally super-flexible verbs like remember in a generalized type for questions, viz. as parametrized centered questions. It shows that the resulting semantics captures the intuitive entailment pattern of these verbs.

<p>In this study, we estimate the unknown parameters, reliability, and hazard functions using a generalized Type-I progressive hybrid censoring sample from a Weibull distribution. Maximum likelihood (ML) and Bayesian estimates are calculated using a choice of prior distributions and loss functions, including squared error, general entropy, and LINEX. Unobserved failure point and interval Bayesian predictions, as well as a future progressive censored sample, are also developed. Finally, we run some simulation tests for the Bayesian approach and numerical example on real data sets using the MCMC algorithm.</p>

In this paper, the exponentiated gamma distribution (EGD) with generalized Type-I hybrid censored data under constant-stress partially accelerated life test (CSPALT) model is considered. The Bayesian and E-Bayesian estimation methods, as well as the maximum likelihood estimation method, are discussed for the parameter of the distribution and the acceleration factor. The E-Bayesian and Bayesian estimates are derived by using the squared error loss (SEL) and the LINEX loss functions. The MCMC method is applied for deriving the Bayesian and then E-Bayesian estimates. Moreover, a real data set is given for the illustrative purpose. After all, an evaluation is performed for the results of the proposed methods.

Abstract This paper investigates a simple step-stress accelerated lifetime test (SSALT) model for the inferential analysis of exponential competing risks data. A generalized type-I hybrid censoring scheme is employed to improve the efficiency and controllability of the test. Firstly, the MLEs for parameters are established based on the cumulative exposure model (CEM). Then the conditional moment generating function (MGF) for unknown parameters is set up using conditional expectation and multiple integral techniques. Thirdly, confidence intervals (CIs) are constructed by the exact MGF-based method, the approximate normality-based method, and the bias-corrected and accelerated (BCa) percentile bootstrap method. Finally, we present simulation studies and an illustrative example to compare the performances of different methods.

This study aimed to understand better how Koreans in their 30s to their 50s perceive the word kkondae using Q-methodology, a research method that reveals the subjectivity of individuals. “Kkondae” traditionally refers to condescending older people and reveals changes between generations in Korean society. Our research results showed four types of perceptions. Type 1 participants believe kkondae are people who wield authority based on age. Type 2 participants see kkondae as people who mistakenly believe their own experiences can be generalized. Type 3 participants view kkondae as self-centered and closed-minded people who think they are superior, while Type 4 participants perceive kkondae as people who lord over others as part of hierarchical relationships. Consequently, the four types of perceptions of kkondae demonstrate that the reasons and ways of expressing conflict situations between groups are changing in Korean society.

In this paper γµ -open sets and γµ -closed sets in a GTS (X, µ) have been studied, where γµ is an operation from µ to P(X). In general, collection of γµ -open sets is smaller than the collection of µ-open sets. The condition under which both are same are also established here. Some properties of such sets have been discussed. Some closure like operators are also defined and their properties are discussed. The relation between similar types of closure operators on the GTS (X, µ) has been established. The condition under which the newly defined closure like operator is a Kuratowski closure operator is given. We have also defined a generalized type of closed sets termed as γµ -generalized closed set with the help of this newly defined closure operator and discussed some basic properties of such sets. As an application, we have introduced some weak separation axioms and discussed some of their properties. Finally, we have shown some preservation theorems of such generalized concepts.
