The main aim of this research paper is to introduce a new extension of the Gauss hypergeometric function and confluent hypergeometric function by using an extended beta function. Some functional relations, summation relations, integral representations, linear transformation formulas, and derivative formulas for these extended functions are derived. We also introduce the logarithmic convexity and some important inequalities for extended beta function.

AbstractWe investigate the logarithmic convexity of the length of the level curves for harmonic functions on surfaces and related isoperimetric type inequalities. The results deal with smooth surfaces, as well as with singular Alexandrov surfaces (also called surfaces with bounded integral curvature), a class which includes for instance surfaces with conical singularities and surfaces of CAT(0) type. Moreover, we study the geodesic curvature of the level curves and of the steepest descent for harmonic functions on surfaces with non-necessarily constant Gaussian curvature K. Such geodesic curvature functions turn out to satisfy certain Laplace-type equations and inequalities, from which we infer various maximum and minimum principles. The results are complemented by a number of growth estimates for the derivatives $$L'$$ L ′ and $$L''$$ L ′ ′ of the length of the level curve function L, as well as by examples illustrating the presentation. Our work generalizes some results due to Alessandrini, Longinetti, Talenti, Ma–Zhang and Wang–Wang.

AbstractWe prove logarithmic convexity estimates and three balls inequalities for discrete magnetic Schrödinger operators. These quantitatively connect the discrete setting in which the unique continuation property fails and the continuum setting in which the unique continuation property is known to hold under suitable regularity assumptions. As a key auxiliary result which might be of independent interest we present a Carleman estimate for these discrete operators.

In this work, we firstly introduce the integral representation of the generalized p-k beta function and then employ well-known Chebychev’s and H¨older’s inequalities to obtain some inequalities on generalized p - k gamma and beta functions. Also, we show the logarithmic convexity propertiesof these functions.

Abstract We study an inverse problem involving the restoration of two radiative potentials, not necessarily smooth, simultaneously with initial temperatures in parabolic equations with dynamic boundary conditions. We prove a Lipschitz stability estimate for the relevant potentials using a recent Carleman estimate, and a logarithmic stability result for the initial temperatures by a logarithmic convexity method, based on observations in an arbitrary subdomain.

In the paper, by virtue of convolution theorem for the Laplace transforms, logarithmic convexity of the gamma function, Bernstein's theorem for completely monotonic functions, and other techniques, the author finds necessary and sufficient conditions for a difference defined by four derivatives of a function containing trigamma function to be completely monotonic. Moreover, by virtue of Cebysev integral inequality, the author presents logarithmic convexity of the sequence of polygamma functions.

Abstract Hölder continuous dependence of solutions upon the initial data is established for the linear theory of Kelvin–Voigt poroelasticity requiring only symmetry conditions upon the elastic coefficients. A novel functional is introduced to which a logarithmic convexity technique is employed.

In the paper, the authors express the Fuss–Catalan numbers as several forms in terms of the Catalan–Qi function, find some analytic properties, including the monotonicity, logarithmic convexity, complete monotonicity, and minimality, of the Fuss–Catalan numbers, and derive a double inequality for bounding the Fuss–Catalan numbers.
