Due to the corona (COVID-19) pandemic, several countries are currently conducting non-face-to-face education. Therefore, teachers of nursing colleges have been carrying out emergency remote education. This study developed a questionnaire to understand the status of Emergency Remote Learning (ERL) in nursing education internationally, translated it into 7 languages, and distributed it to 18 countries. A total of 328 nursing educators responded, and the most often used online methods were Social networking technology such as Facebook, Google+ and Video sharing platform such as YouTube. The ERL applied to nursing education was positively evaluated as 3.59 out of 5. The results of the study show that during the two semesters nursing college professors have well adapted to this unprecedent crisis of teaching. The world after COVID-19 has become a completely different place, and nursing education should be prepared for ‘untact’ education.

PurposeThis study aims to gain a more holistic understanding of Chinese older adults' perceptions and use of social networking technology.Design/methodology/approachGrounded in the extended unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT2) and expectation-confirmation (ECM) theory, the study proposed an integrated social media user engagement model and tested the model utilizing the data collected from 323 Chinese older adults.FindingsThe results reveal that half of the relationships in the proposed model were supported. Specifically, performance expectancy, facilitating conditions, social influence and hedonic motivation were all found to have a significant positive influence on perceived value. In addition, the results confirmed the positive impact of facilitating conditions on satisfaction. Both perceived value and satisfaction were also found to have a significant positive effect on Chinese older adults' intention to engage in social networking technology.Originality/valueChinese older adults are embracing Internet technologies at a greater rate; thus, understanding their perspectives of social networking technology offers valuable insights. This empirical study enhances understanding of the nature and strength of the relationships in the proposed integrated social media user engagement model in the context of Chinese older adults.

PurposeThe current extensive business ecosystem, characterized by technological advances and development, impressive customers, and increasing social concerns, has exerted great pressure on business organizations. Among different business values for affording this pressure, organizational agility is a critical factor that should be carefully incorporated in business processes. The main purpose of the present study is to investigate the role of social networking technology, as a crucial collaborative tool, on organizational agility.Design/methodology/approachA model based on structural equations was designed in this regard. The constructs of this model are quality of service, varieties of services, costs and speed of service as independent variables and also agility management as a dependent variable. Based on the conceptual model, a questionnaire was prepared and distributed among the experts of social networking technology and agility management. Based on Cochran's formula the sample size was 384. The response rate was 100%. The main statistical measures such as Chi-square ratio to the degree of freedom, Non-soft Fitness Index (RMSEA), Goodness of Fit Index (GFI) and Modified fitness index (AGFI) were employed for analyzing the model.FindingsResults of obtained data indicated that a variety of services as the main factor of social networking technology has the most impact on the agility of a company. Then, the speed of service, service quality and costs were ranked respectively in second to fourth. Providing information technology (IT) service perceptions, promoting the service climate and thorough identification of IT requirements are the main critical success factors for maintaining a robust impact of social networking technology on organizational agility. Moreover, a well-designed enterprise structure alongside employing newly developed IT infrastructures such as cloud computing certainly improves the capabilities of organizations to improve their agility.Originality/valueAlthough the literature suggests a positive impact among IT or social networks on organizational agility, it is deficient in relation to considering the impact of social networking. Furthermore, a structural equation model (SEM) is used for assessing unobservable latent constructs and their related interrelationship.

This chapter studies the challenge and issue of developing a sound social networking technology (SNT) framework to affect positive student engagement and consequently effective learning. The author aims to enable educational administrators, faculty, and curriculum designers to incorporate and seamlessly integrate SNT in curricula to foster effective and efficient learning. The chapter bases itself on the premise that higher educational institutions failing to develop and integrate social educational technology in their educational systems and policies will face major maintenance and existence issues. Contemporary dynamic technology, diverse learner populations coupled with different types of learning environments, and learning connotations necessitate the need for a robust SNT framework. The author researches the task technology fit (TTF) framework, discusses theories of TAM and ARCS, describes SNT of Twitter and Facebook, and uses a qualitative case study to develop and craft a SNT framework for higher education.
