Six-membered diaza ring of Cinnoline have been fused on Naphthalimide dye to give donor–acceptor system called CinNapht. These red shifted fluorophore, that can be synthetised in gram scale, exhibits a large Stoke Shift and quantum yield up to 0.33. It is also caracterized by strong solvatochromic effect for green to red emission as well and can be used for bio-imaging

Experimental and theoretical study of the solvatochromic effect of the species iodine (I2) and triiodide ion (I3–)

Despite the experimental and theoretical agreement, in the inverse relationship between increased polarity and decreased maximum absorption, the high deviations led us to question the possibility of forming other species in solution and therefore motivated the development of this work. This work aims to investigate the effect of the solvent on the species triiodide (I3–), and to compare the previous results obtained for iodine (I2). The effect of the solvent on the species I3– was promising in view of an improvement in the results compared to when using I2 as a solute. Experimentally it is possible that I2 molecules are in equilibrium with I3– molecules.
