A Postharvest experiment was conducted to maximize the vase life of gladiolus using different preservative solution in department of Horticulture, Kalasalingam School of Agriculture and Horticulture. In this experiment the treatment consisted of two preservative chemicals and two growth regulators viz., 8-Hydroxy quinoline sulphate @ 300 ppm Silver nitrate @ 50 ppm, Benzyl adenine @ 20,40,60 ppm and Gibberlic acid @ 10,25,40 ppm along with sucrose @ 4 per cent with distilled water as control. The results of this experiment revealed that the maximum water uptake, transpirational loss of water, water balance, fresh weight change, percentage of opened florets, floret diameter, longevity of floret, vase life was recorded in T2 (8-HQS @ 300 ppm + sucrose 4% + BA @ 40 ppm), when compared to control. Some parameters like optical density of vase solution, days taken for the basal floret to open in vase and the percentage of wilted florets were observed least in T2 (8-HQS @ 300 ppm + sucrose 4% + BA @ 40 ppm). T5 (8-HQS @ 300 ppm + Sucrose 4% + BA @ 40 ppm) solution was found best to extend the vase life of gladiolus.

The present experiment was conducted during October 2011 – April 2012 in the Department of Horticulture, Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture Technology and Science, Allahabad, (U.P.). The experiment of design was randomized block design consisting 11 treatment with 3 replication, with a view to find out the overall performance of different cultivars of Glodiolus viz. Panjab Morning (T1), Green Bay (T2), Noualux blue (T3), American Beauty (T4), Priscilla (T5),White Prosperity (T6) Red Majesty (T7), Summer Shunshine (T8) Delhi local (T9), Noualux (T10), Candyman (T11),. On the basis of different growth and yield parameters the maximum days for first floret durability (6.16). were recorded by White Prosperity (T6) followed by American Beauty (T4) (5.76). The maximum number of spike length (95.13cm) was obtained in White Prosperity (T6) followed by Red Majesty (T7) (94.16). The maximum weight of spike (64.40 g) was observed in White Prosperity (T6) followed by American Beauty (T4) (64.33g). The maximum floret diameter (12.63cm) was found in Summer Pearl (T8) followed by White Prosperity (T6) (12.53cm). The maximum number of floret per spike (18.00) was found in White Prosperity (T6) followed by American Beauty (T4) (17.73). The maximum number of spikes per plant (5.33) was observed in Delhi Local (T9) followed by White Prosperity (T6) (1.3). Which can be recommended for cultivation in Allahabad agro-climatic condition.

Beyoncé Knowles Carter had editorial power over the cover and content of her own story on a major mainstream magazine. Serena Williams did the same on the cover and 4 content of another one. The names of the magazines are not important because they didn’t even respond to my inquiry. Brown became beautiful in 2018 when major fashion magazines showcased it on their covers. Where were brown skinned people on the beauty spectrum before then? I mean I had heard the statement “Black is Beautiful” but was it really? This sent me on a journey which led to libraries and internet searches, but also contacting industry professionals to talk about their experiences with this. For this project I interviewed four men to talk about the beauty found in African American women along with researching different moments in history that stood out as defining. All four men worked in the fashion and design industry on projects that featured beautiful women by their industry standards. Three, I chatted with on the phone and transcribed the conversations, while with the fourth I exchanged emails. I learned that men are very dominant in this field and the way they see beauty determines how we see beauty.

Peter McGraw and Caleb Warren’s benign violation theory (BVT) argues that humor is produced when three conditions are met: we perceive a situation as potentially violating, we perceive it also as benign, and the two perceptions occur simultaneously. This chapter mobilizes BVT in describing the cognitive dissonances inherent in comedy spectatorship, using a particular case study in dramedy cinema: the suburban ensemble film, including such works as The Kids Are All Right, Little Miss Sunshine, and American Beauty. After surveying some of the key humorous stimuli recurrent across the genre, I turn to other comedic texts that deal with family and domestic studies with a striking lack of pathos—in particular the television series Family Guy. This comparison underscores an analysis of the ethics of benign violations in narrative media that is centered on the resolution of its fundamental affective incoherence and the way this resolution might guide later critical thought. The chapter ultimately demonstrates the uses of BVT as a hermeneutic tool, and one that might help us isolate an ethics of comedy in media.

A Postharvest experiment was conducted to maximize the vase life of gladiolus using different preservative solution in Department of Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, Annamalai University. In this experiment the treatment consisted of two preservative chemicals viz., 8-hydroxy quinoline sulphate @ 150, 300, 450 ppm and silver nitrate @ 25, 50, 75 ppm along with sucrose @ 2 and 4 per cent along with control (distilled water).
