Given a tame differential calculus over a noncommutative algebra [Formula: see text] and an [Formula: see text]-bilinear metric [Formula: see text] consider the conformal deformation [Formula: see text] [Formula: see text] being an invertible element of [Formula: see text] We prove that there exists a unique connection [Formula: see text] on the bimodule of one-forms of the differential calculus which is torsionless and compatible with [Formula: see text] We derive a concrete formula connecting [Formula: see text] and the Levi-Civita connection for the metric [Formula: see text] As an application, we compute the Ricci and scalar curvatures for a general conformal perturbation of the canonical metric on the noncommutative [Formula: see text]-torus as well as for a natural metric on the quantum Heisenberg manifold. For the latter, the scalar curvature turns out to be a negative constant.

Abstract We extend the notion of Morita equivalence of Poisson manifolds to the setting of formal Poisson structures, that is, formal power series of bivector fields $\pi =\pi _0 + \lambda \pi _1 +\cdots $ satisfying the Poisson integrability condition $[\pi ,\pi ]=0$. Our main result gives a complete description of Morita equivalent formal Poisson structures deforming the zero structure ($\pi _0=0$) in terms of $B$-field transformations, relying on a general study of formal deformations of Poisson morphisms and dual pairs. Combined with previous work on Morita equivalence of star products [ 5], our results link the notions of Morita equivalence in Poisson geometry and noncommutative algebra via deformation quantization.

AbstractA (noncommutative) Pólya series over a field K is a formal power series whose nonzero coefficients are contained in a finitely generated subgroup of $$K^\times $$ K × . We show that rational Pólya series are unambiguous rational series, proving a 40 year old conjecture of Reutenauer. The proof combines methods from noncommutative algebra, automata theory, and number theory (specifically, unit equations). As a corollary, a rational series is a Pólya series if and only if it is Hadamard sub-invertible. Phrased differently, we show that every weighted finite automaton taking values in a finitely generated subgroup of a field (and zero) is equivalent to an unambiguous weighted finite automaton.

We consider a quantum space with a rotationally invariant noncommutative algebra of coordinates and momenta. The algebra contains the constructed tensors of noncommutativity involving additional coordinates and momenta. In the rotationally invariant noncommutative phase space, the harmonic oscillator chain is studied. We obtain that the noncommutativity affects the frequencies of the system. In the case of a chain of particles with harmonic oscillator interaction, we conclude that, due to the noncommutativity of momenta, the spectrum of the center-of-mass of the system is discrete and corresponds to the spectrum of a harmonic oscillator.
