Study of role of caudal epidural steroid in management of low back pain in Malayalam patients

<p class="abstract"><strong>Background:</strong> 85 patients of different age groups were treated with caudal epidural steroid injection for the management of low back pain. As low back pain is quite common in adults.</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Methods:</strong> X-ray, MRI of the lumbar region was studied. Degree of the pain was assessed by VAS (visual analogue scale) scale, study of Lumbo-sacral joint was studied to know the causes of low back pain (LBP).<strong></strong></p><p class="abstract"><strong>Results:</strong> As per the MRI study classification LBP was classified as, 16 (16.3%) had Acute back pain without any cause, 14 (14.2%) had spondylolithesis having symptoms of claudication with low back pain. 26 (26.5%) had stenosis of Lumbar canal with symptoms of claudication 42 (42.8%) had disc degeneration with or without root radiation having complaint of back pain and leg pain. The improvement as per VAS scale was from 1 week to 3 months in the management of LBP.</p><p align="center"><strong>Conclusions:</strong> This pragmatic approach to various causes of low back pain managed with epidural steroid injection will be useful to orthopedic surgeon to treat such pain efficiently because back pain becomes common factor as age advances due to resorption or degenerative factors andcurvatures of vertebral column becomes less pronounceds. </p>

Musculoskeletal Disorders Related to the Professional Work of Academic Teachers and the Quality of their Work

The organization of space and working conditions is very important in terms of its effectiveness. Each professional work determines activities that support occupational safety and health at the workplace. Lack of proper working conditions but also the time of exposure to dangerous, burdensome or harmful factors has an impact on the effectiveness of the work performed. Lack of balance between work and leisure in turn results in a decrease in work efficiency. The scientific and didactic work of academic teachers is related to the occurrence of diversified occupational hazards with particular emphasis on those that are the cause of musculoskeletal disorders. In this elaboration, the research, analysis and evaluation of the work effectiveness of academic teachers have been carried out. A questionnaire and a direct interview have been used as a research method. In addition, the pain intensity in individual parts of the body has been assessed in the last 12 months depending on the age of research and teaching staff using the NMQ questionnaire (Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire). For the purposes of the study, the survey was supplemented with the VAS (Visual Analogue Scale) scale to assess the severity of pain. Effect of Large Compress Aroma Lavender Therapy to Intensity Scale and Old Labor of I there are Active Phase Until Second Stage in Primigravida Mother in the Region Puskesmas Pagak District Malang

The pain of labor may potentially activate the sympathetic nervous system that inhibits endogenous oxytocin secretion, which can be resolved by the method of using warm compress therapeutic aromatherapy lavender to make vasodilatation of blood vessels so that the hormone oxytocin in the body more optimal and will help the contraction of the smooth muscle of the uterus that affect the labor so that run faster.Penelitian aims to determine the influence of warm compresses of lavender aromatherapy on pain intensity and duration of labor in active phase until premiere of second stage labor on primigavida maternity. The research design is True Experimental Design. Population of primigravida pregnant women who have interpretation of birth November-December 2017 in Pagak Puskesmas region consisting 42 respondents. The sampling technique using Simple Randomization was obtained 38 respondents (control and treatment group). Intensity was measured using VAS (Visual Analogue Scale) scale and the length of labor was measured by partograph (minutes) .The result of calculation of Hotelling T2 (sig 0,05) 62,8392.> 6,7216. H0 is rejected, meaning that there is a difference between the mean on the control and the average on the treatment. The use of warm compresses of lavender aromatherapy decreased the intensity of labor pain by 30.8%, while for the duration of labor acceleration occurred 26.4%. Thus warm compresses of lavender aromatherapy as one of the interventions in reducing the intensity of pain and labor acceleration in primigravid maternity, and can be applied to various health services.
