Active fault-tolerant control systems perform fault diagnosis and reconfigurable control. There is a bidirectional uncertainty between them, and an integrated scheme is proposed here to account for that. The system considers both actuator and sensor faults, as well as the external disturbance. The diagnostic module is designed using an unknown input observer, and the controller is constructed on the basis of an adaptive method. The integrated strategy is presented, and the stability of the overall system is analyzed. Moreover, different kinds of anti-windup techniques are utilized to modify the original controllers, because of the different controller structures. A simulation of the integrated anti-windup fault-tolerant control method is demonstrated using a numerical model of Boeing 747. The results show that it can guarantee the stability of the post-fault aircraft and increase the control performance for the overall faulty system.

The purpose of this paper is the study by simulation of a fault tolerant control with Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) AC-DC-AC converter supplying a three-phase rotor field oriented induction motor. The back to back converter, is supplied with three-phase network and composed of a PWM rectifier and a voltage source inverter. Fault tolerant topology of AC-DC-AC converter that without redundancy have been studied and associated with affective and fast method of fault detection and compensation to guarantee the continuity of service, in the presence of a possible open circuit failure on the level of one of their legs. Although of the presence of open circuit on the level of one of the converter legs the control based on the Zero Sequence Signal (ZSS) assure the service continuity, the simulation results obtained prove that it is possible to maintain the good performance of the drive without redundancy leg (6/5 topology).

In this study, an anti-windup reconfigurable control method is developed for dynamic positioning vessel in the presence of thruster faults and input saturation. The designed reconfiguration block acting as a virtual thruster aims at hiding the faults from the nominal controller. Also, it is added into the closed-loop system between the nominal controller and the dynamic positioning system. A thruster saturation-failure fault matrix technique is proposed to regard the thruster saturation as thruster fault, meanwhile an auxiliary system is constructed to achieve extra compensation for the adverse effects induced by input saturation. Furthermore, an integral sliding mode control method is presented to accommodate the nonlinear items in the reconfiguration block. An adaptive technique is also employed to preserve robustness against the unknown uncertainties. Finally, a vessel dynamic positioning control process is adopted to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
