Recent more intensive explorations and collections of hornworts in Mt. Slamet indicated that six species can be recognized, namely Anthoceros punctatus, Folioceros fuciformis, Phaeoceros carolinianus, P. exiguus, Dendroceros difficilis, and Megaceros flagellaris. Since originally only one species D. difficilis was recorded from this area, this means that five species represent new records for the area, whereas P. exiguus is not only a new record for Java, but it is also a new record for Malesia.

Anthocerotopsida (antocerotas) está representado en la Península Ibérica por seis especies que tienen una distribución básicamente concentrada en la mitad occidental, de tendencia climática atlántica. Se da cuenta de la presencia excepcional de tres especies de este grupo de plantas: Anthoceros punctatus L., Phaeoceros laevis (L.) Prosk. y Phymatoceros bulbiculosus (Brot.) Stotler et al. viviendo juntas y entremezcladas, en una localidad de la provincia de Málaga (España), bajo clima mediterráneo subhúmedo y formando parte de la comunidad briofítica Fossombronio-Phaeoceretum bulbiculosi Guerra et al. 1981. Anthocerotopsida (hornworts) is represented in the Iberian Peninsula by six species that have a mostly concentrated distribution in the western half, with Atlantic climate trend. The exceptional presence of three species of this group of plants: Anthoceros punctatus L., Phaeoceros laevis (L.) Prosk. and Phymatoceros bulbiculosus (Brot.) Stotler et al. growing together and intermingled, in a locality of the Málaga province (Spain), under subhumid Mediterranean climate is mentioned. The three species are part of the community Fossombronio-Phaeoceretum bulbiculosi Guerra et al. 1981.

A preliminary survey of Bilaspur-Achanakmar Tiger Reserve (ATR) forest area shows that phylogenetically significant hornworts are quite dominant in the area. The smallest known group of bryophytes Anthoceros (Hornworts) is a terrestrial and cosmopolitan genus characterized by horn-shaped sporophyte. Present investigation deals with the morphotaxonomic account of three species of hornworts. Notothylas levieri Schiffn. Ex Steph., Anthoceros punctatus L., Sp. and Phaeoceros leavies (L.) Prosk., has been identified from different localities of Bilaspur- Achnakmar Tigar Reserve (ATR) and Achanakmar–Amarkantak Biosphere Reserve (AABR), Chhattisgarh. The comprehensive and consolidate account, has been provided along with identification key. All three were new reports to the Chhattisgarh Bryoflora.

ABSTRACT An alternative group 2 sigma factor was identified in the nitrogen-fixing, symbiotically competent cyanobacterium Nostoc punctiforme and designated sigH. Transcription ofsigH was specifically induced within 1.5 h following exposure of N. punctiforme to its symbiotic plant partner,Anthoceros punctatus. A mutation in sigHresulted in a sixfold-higher initial infection of A. punctatus tissue without a parallel increase in nitrogen-fixing activity.
