The Tyrrhenian Sea Circulation: A Review of Recent Work

Knowledge about marine circulation and its variability is a basic requirement for the correct management of activities aimed at exploiting marine resources and for the prevention and eventual mitigation of the risks involved. The activities of the Marine Hazard Project, to which this special number of Sustainability is dedicated, focus on geothermal resources connected with some submerged volcanic systems located in the Tyrrhenian Sea. This sea hosts delicate coastal and marine ecosystems, and is characterized by rich dynamics, both driven by the interaction of the local forcing with the complex morphology and bathymetry of the basin, and by exchanges with adjacent sub-basins which take place at all depths. The main purpose of the present review is to summarize the present understanding of the Tyrrhenian Sea circulation and its variability, with special emphasis on the results of experimental and modelling works of the last decade.

Properties of Padovan Sequence

Among several types of famous sequences that exist in all branches of mathematics, Padovan sequence is one of such sequences possessing amusing properties. In this paper, we shall discuss about Padovan Sequence and determine a special number called Plastic number. We also derive the ratio of its (n+1)st term to the nth term as n is very large, which is called “Limiting Ratio”. Finally we discuss the geometrical interpretation of the terms of Padovan sequence.

Onomastic units in the literary language of Samad Vurgun

Onomastic units mean a special number. This field is one of the focus areas of research in modern Azerbaijani linguistics. Special attention is paid to the development of onomastic units in the literary language of our great poet S.Vurgun, who played an exceptional role in the enrichment of the Azerbaijani language. Each of the onomastic units was skillfully used in the work of S.Vurgun. Research shows that our artists used the appellation of words when naming images. This is clearly reflected in the literary language of S.Vurgun. In S.Vurgun's poem, the names are arranged according to the descriptive situation of the event. The diversity and biology of symbiotic and parasitic crustaceans: an introduction

The present special number of Journal of Crustacean Biology (JCB) house, in addition to novel contributions, articles originating from two symposia, ‘Frontiers in the Ecology and Biology of the Thecostraca’ in ICC9, Washington DC, 2018, and ‘Evolution and Ecology of Parasitic and Symbiotic Crustaceans’ in The Crustacean Society summer meeting in Hong Kong, 2019. Articles on symbiotic and parasitic crustaceans, including tantulocarids, isopods, amphipods, barnacles, and pilumnid and pinnotherid crabs, are devoted to advancing our knowledge on the diversity and biology of symbiotic (including parasitic) crustaceans.

The Centennial of Mendel University in Brno and its Faculty of Agrisciences (Editorial)

The paper describes the development of Mendel University in Brno and its Faculty of AgriSciences during last 100 years. It shows the present state of the University and Faculty, including facilities used for educational, scientific and other activities. The journal European Countryside owned by the University has been established 10 years ago. It is a highly cited per review periodical in the field of rural development. This special number gave the opportunity to the members of the Advisory Board to co-celebrate the anniversary by means of their own topic related scientific article.
