Downward-looking linear array synthetic aperture radar (DLLA SAR) is a kind of three-dimensional (3-D) radar imaging system. To obtain the superresolution along the crosstrack direction of DLLA SAR, the sparse regularization models with single measurement vector (SMV) have been widely applied. However, the robustness of the sparse regularization models with SMV is unsatisfactory, especially in the low signal-to-noise rate (SNR) environment. To solve this problem, we proposed a novel imaging method for DLLA SAR based on the multiple measurement vector (MMV) model with L 2 , 1 -norm. At first, we exchange the processing order between the along-track (AT) domain and the crosstrack (CT) domain to keep the same sparse structure of the signal in the crosstrack domain so that we can establish the imaging problem as a sparse regularization model based on the MMV model. Moreover, the mixed L 2 , 1 -norm is introduced into the regularization term of the MMV model. Finally, the modified orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) algorithm is designed for the MMV model with the L 2 , 1 -norm. The simulations verify that the proposed method has better performance in the lower SNR environment and requires lower computation compared with the conventional methods.

In this paper, the problem of direction of arrival estimation is addressed by employing Bayesian learning technique in sparse domain. This paper deals with the inference of sparse Bayesian learning (SBL) for both single measurement vector (SMV) and multiple measurement vector (MMV) and its applicability to estimate the arriving signal’s direction at the receiving antenna array; particularly considered to be a uniform linear array. We also derive the hyperparameter updating equations by maximizing the posterior of hyperparameters and exhibit the results for nonzero hyperprior scalars. The results presented in this paper, shows that the resolution and speed of the proposed algorithm is comparatively improved with almost zero failure rate and minimum mean square error of signal’s direction estimate.

Abstract Due to the rapid development and wide application of compressed sensing and sparse reconstruction theory, there exists a series of sparsity-based methods for the antenna sensor array direction of arrival (DOA) estimation with excellent performance. However, it is known that this kind of algorithms always suffers from the problem of grid mismatch. To overcome this shortcoming, a gridless DOA estimation algorithm with finite rate of innovation (FRI) based on a symmetric Toeplitz covariance matrix is proposed for uniform linear array (ULA) in this paper. In particular, a multiple measurement vector (MMV) FRI reconstruction model is built by exploiting the covariance data denoised according to covariance fitting criteria rather than the direct data or the original covariance data, which is commonly used in other representative gridless DOA estimation methods. Next, DOA can be retrieved from the recovered covariance matrix by utilizing an annihilating filter because each covariance data is a linear combination of complex exponentials. It guarantees to produce an exact spatial sparse estimate without discretization required by existing sparsity-based DOA estimation methods. Finally, the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed algorithm are demonstrated by numerical simulations.

In massive machine-type communications (mMTC) scenarios, grant-free non-orthogonal multiple access becomes crucial due to the small transmission latency, limited signaling overhead and the ability to support massive connectivity. In a multi-user detection (MUD) problem, the base station (BS) is unaware of the active users and needs to detect active devices. With sporadic devices transmitting signals at any moment, the MUD problem can be formulated as a multiple measurement vector (MMV) sparse recovery problem. Through the Khatri–Rao product, we prove that the MMV problem is transformed into a single measurement vector (SMV) problem. Based on the basis pursuit de-noising approximate message passing (BPDN-AMP) algorithm, a novel learning AMP network (LAMPnet) algorithm is proposed, which is designed to reduce the false alarm probability when the required detection probability is high. Simulation results show that when the required detection probablity is high, the AMP algorithm based on LAMPnet noticeably outperforms the traditional algorithms with acceptable computational complexity.

A multiple measurement vector (MMV) model blocks sparse signal recovery. ISAR imaging algorithm is proposed to improve ISAR imaging quality. Firstly, the sparse imaging model is built, and block sparse signal recovery algorithm-based MMV model is applied to ISAR imaging. Then, a negative exponential function is proposed to approximately block L0 norm. The optimization solution of smoothed function is obtained by constructing a decreasing sequence. Finally, the correction steps are added to ensure the optimal solution of the block sparse signal along the fastest descent direction. Several simulations and real data simulation experiments verify the proposed algorithm has advantages in imaging time and quality.

This paper introduces a low complexity wideband direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation algorithm on the co-prime array. To increase the number of the detectable signal sources and to prevent an unnecessary increase in complexity, the low dimensional co-prime array vector is constructed by arranging elements of the correlation matrix at every frequency bin. The atomic norm minimization (ANM)-based approach resolves the grid-mismatch, which causes an inevitable error in the compressive sensing (CS)-based DOA estimation. However, the complexity surges when the ANM is exploited to the wideband DOA estimation on the co-prime array. The surging complexity of the ANM-based wideband DOA estimation on the co-prime array is handled by solving the time-saving semidefinite programming (SDP) motivated by the ANM for multiple measurement vector (MMV) case. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has high accuracy and low complexity compared to compressive sensing (CS)-based wideband DOA estimation algorithms that exploit the co-prime array.
