Abstract We study the property of continuous Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity, for semihomogeneous vector bundles over a given Abelian variety, which was formulated in A. Küronya and Y. Mustopa [Adv. Geom. 20 (2020), no. 3, 401-412]. Our main result gives a novel description thereof. It is expressed in terms of certain normalized polynomial functions that are obtained via the Wedderburn decomposition of the Abelian variety’s endo-morphism algebra. This result builds on earlier work of Mumford and Kempf and applies the form of the Riemann-Roch Theorem that was established in N. Grieve [New York J. Math. 23 (2017), 1087-1110]. In a complementary direction, we explain how these topics pertain to the Index and Generic Vanishing Theory conditions for simple semihomogeneous vector bundles. In doing so, we refine results from M. Gulbrandsen [Matematiche (Catania) 63 (2008), no. 1, 123–137], N. Grieve [Internat. J. Math. 25 (2014), no. 4, 1450036, 31] and D. Mumford [Questions on Algebraic Varieties (C.I.M.E., III Ciclo, Varenna, 1969), Edizioni Cremonese, Rome, 1970, pp. 29-100].

We formulate and establish a generalization of Kollár’s injectivity theorem for adjoint bundles twisted by suitable multiplier ideal sheaves. As applications, we generalize Kollár’s torsion-freeness, Kollár’s vanishing theorem, and a generic vanishing theorem for pseudo-effective line bundles. Our approach is not Hodge theoretic but analytic, which enables us to treat singular Hermitian metrics with nonalgebraic singularities. For the proof of the main injectivity theorem, we use L 2 L^{2} -harmonic forms on noncompact Kähler manifolds. For applications, we prove a Bertini-type theorem on the restriction of multiplier ideal sheaves to general members of free linear systems.

AbstractWe show that in positive characteristic special loci of deformation spaces of rank one $$\ell $$ ℓ -adic local systems are quasi-linear. From this we deduce the Hard Lefschetz theorem for rank one $$\ell $$ ℓ -adic local systems and a generic vanishing theorem.

Abstract We use the non-proper Morse theory of Palais–Smale to investigate the topology of smooth closed subvarieties of complex semi-abelian varieties and that of their infinite cyclic covers. As main applications, we obtain the finite generation (except in the middle degree) of the corresponding integral Alexander modules as well as the signed Euler characteristic property and generic vanishing for rank-one local systems on such subvarieties. Furthermore, we give a more conceptual (topological) interpretation of the signed Euler characteristic property in terms of vanishing of Novikov homology. As a byproduct, we prove a generic vanishing result for the $L^2$-Betti numbers of very affine manifolds. Our methods also recast June Huh’s extension of Varchenko’s conjecture to very affine manifolds and provide a generalization of this result in the context of smooth closed sub-varieties of semi-abelian varieties.

AbstractWe ask when the CM (Castelnuovo–Mumford) regularity of a vector bundle on a projective variety X is numerical, and address the case when X is an abelian variety. We show that the continuous CM-regularity of a semihomogeneous vector bundle on an abelian variety X is a piecewise-constant function of Chern data, and we also use generic vanishing theory to obtain a sharp upper bound for the continuous CM-regularity of any vector bundle on X. From these results we conclude that the continuous CM-regularity of many semihomogeneous bundles — including many Verlinde bundles when X is a Jacobian — is both numerical and extremal.
