Abstract In this paper the properties of solutions of nonlinear parabolic equation not in divergence form | x | − 1 ∂ u ∂ t = u q ∂ ∂ x ( | x | n u m − 1 | ∂ u k ∂ x | p − 2 ∂ u ∂ x ) + | x | − 1 u β are studied. Depending on values of the numerical parameters and the initial value, the existence of the global solutions of the Cauchy problem is proved. Constructed asymptotic representation of self-similar solutions of nonlinear parabolic equation not in divergence form, depending on the value in the equation of the numerical parameters necessary and sufficient signs of their existence. The compactly supported solution of the Cauchy problem for a cross-diffusion parabolic equation not in divergence form with a source and a variable density is obtained.

Abstract We consider quasilinear elliptic systems in divergence form. In general, we cannot expect that weak solutions are locally bounded because of De Giorgi’s counterexample. Here we assume that off-diagonal coefficients have a “butterfly support”: this allows us to prove local boundedness of weak solutions.

AbstractAn optimal first-order global regularity theory, in spaces of functions defined in terms of oscillations, is established for solutions to Dirichlet problems for the p-Laplace equation and system, with the right-hand side in divergence form. The exact mutual dependence among the regularity of the solution, of the datum on the right-hand side, and of the boundary of the domain in these spaces is exhibited. A comprehensive formulation of our results is given in terms of Campanato seminorms. New regularity results in customary function spaces, such as Hölder, $$\text {BMO}$$ BMO and $${{\,\mathrm{VMO}\,}}$$ VMO spaces, follow as a consequence. Importantly, the conclusions are new even in the linear case when $$p=2$$ p = 2 , and hence the differential operator is the plain Laplacian. Yet in this classical linear setting, our contribution completes and augments the celebrated Schauder theory in Hölder spaces. A distinctive trait of our results is their sharpness, which is demonstrated by a family of apropos examples.

Abstract Let w be a Muckenhoupt A 2(ℝ n ) weight and Ω a bounded Reifenberg flat domain in ℝ n . Assume that p (·):Ω → (1, ∞) is a variable exponent satisfying the log-Hölder continuous condition. In this article, the authors investigate the weighted W 1, p (·)(Ω, w)-regularity of the weak solutions of second order degenerate elliptic equations in divergence form with Dirichlet boundary condition, under the assumption that the degenerate coefficients belong to weighted BMO spaces with small norms.

Abstract Let $c_{kl} \in W^{1,\infty }(\Omega , \mathbb{C})$ for all $k,l \in \{1, \ldots , d\};$ and $\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^{d}$ be open with uniformly $C^{2}$ boundary. We consider the divergence form operator $A_p = - \sum \nolimits _{k,l=1}^{d} \partial _l (c_{kl} \partial _k)$ in $L_p(\Omega )$ when the coefficient matrix satisfies $(C(x) \xi , \xi ) \in \Sigma _\theta$ for all $x \in \Omega$ and $\xi \in \mathbb{C}^{d}$ , where $\Sigma _\theta$ be the sector with vertex 0 and semi-angle $\theta$ in the complex plane. We show that a sectorial estimate holds for $A_p$ for all $p$ in a suitable range. We then apply these estimates to prove that the closure of $-A_p$ generates a holomorphic semigroup under further assumptions on the coefficients. The contractivity and consistency properties of these holomorphic semigroups are also considered.

AbstractWe study local regularity properties of linear, non-uniformly parabolic finite-difference operators in divergence form related to the random conductance model on $$\mathbb Z^d$$ Z d . In particular, we provide an oscillation decay assuming only certain summability properties of the conductances and their inverse, thus improving recent results in that direction. As an application, we provide a local limit theorem for the random walk in a random degenerate and unbounded environment.
