This paper analysed the impact of different attributes in Spanish quality wines on United States (US) demand behaviour. A hedonic price model was estimated in order to assess the values that US consumers give Spanish wines. The main results showed that the most influential factor on sale price was aging, which had a positive impact. US consumers valued the quality ratings provided by experts, especially in the upper price categories. The year of vintage and size of the winery were considered medium importance factors in decision-making, with the latest vintages and the smallest wineries receiving the highest ratings. Geographical origin (appellation) helped to explain consumer preferences. Although colour was the least important attribute in consumers’ purchase decisions, red wines were the most highly rated in this attribute.

Fruit and vegetable consumption has been shown to be an important part of any diet leading towards good health, but little is known about the vegetable demand behaviour at finer levels of disaggregation in Nigeria. Hence, this study estimated the price and income (expenditure) elasticities of demand for the commonly consumed vegetables among households in the Ogun State, Nigeria. Data were collected with the use of a well-structured questionnaire administered to one hundred and twenty (120) households that were randomly selected using a multi-stage sampling procedure. The data were analysed by simple descriptive statistics and estimation of a Nonlinear Quadratic Almost Ideal Demand System (NQAIDS) of vegetable demand behaviour of households sampled. The results show that income elasticity of demand for Bitter leave (–3.43) and the Eggplant (–3.67) are elastic, while income elasticity of demand for Tomato (0.27), to which about one-third of vegetables expenditure are devoted, is inelastic. The results further revealed thatown-price elasticities of demand carry the expected negative signs for all the vegetables and are generally inelastic. Estimates ofcross price elasticities show the dominance of substitutability among the vegetables with only few cases of complementarities.

The objective of this study is to analyse the travel pattern of students in the Engineering Campus of Universiti Sains Malaysia, by using a 7-day travel diary survey. After screening the data obtained, 98 of the 100 responses received were processed and analysed. The results show that there were major differences in travel patterns between weekdays and weekends in terms of activities, trip generation, modal split, travel distance, travel time and cost. These differences were found to be contributed by the factors such as gender and motorized vehicle ownership. In conclusion, the travel demand behaviour of the students was better understood through the study of travel patterns, as well as the intra and interpersonal variability of the students. This information is particularly important for the establishment of better infrastructures, transport planning strategies, and policies for the sustainability of the campus.
